• Buildfromscratch,don'tmigrate,makeuseofmodules.• Don'ttrytoexportaBlackboardcourseandimportitintoCanvas.Youwillbemuch

happiercreatingthecourseinsideCanvas,ratherthanwastingtimetryingtocleanupthemessthatwouldresult.Beopen-minded.EventhoughCanvasmaylabelthingswithdifferentnamestheonesyou'reusedtoinBlackboard,mostofthesamefeaturesareoffered.YoucanmaintainthedesignofyourcourseinthissystemifyouareflexibleandwillingtoworkwiththeCMS.

• Ilikeit!IthinkstudentswillfinditmucheasiertonavigateandIfeelIhavemorecontroloverwhattheyseeandinteractwith.Blackboardisnotintuitivelylaidoutandhassomanyfeaturesautomaticallyactivatedthatitcanbeoverwhelming.Thissystemiseasiertonavigateandsimpler.Thatsaid,eventhoughIlikethissystembetter,Iwillonlybeabletorecommendaswitchifwecanconfirmthatitwillleadtolong-termsignificantsavingsforthedistrict.BlackboardisabletoaccomplishmostofthesamefeaturesandfunctionsasCanvas.Switchingwillcausesignificantworkloadincreasesforfacultyandtransitiontimeforstudents.ThosecostsareonlyworthwhileifweknowthatthesystemwillbefreetothedistrictorsignificantlycheaperthanBlackboardforanextendedperiodoftime.

• Ilikeithowever,somethingsstillneedtobeworkedout.Likehowtoresetonestudentsattemptintakinganexam.Ifthesystembootsthemoutinblackboardyoucanreset.InCanvas,Ihavenotfoundawayaroundthis.youhavetoopenupthewholetestforallstudentstohaveanadditionalattemptandIdonotlikethatoption.Weshouldbeabletofindawaytoclearanattemptandallowonestudenttodoaretake.

• Itseemsefficientandbasicallyclear,yetthereisalackofcreativepotentialforanaestheticallypleasingvirtualclassroomenvironment.

• Therearesomeaspectsthatarenicesuchastheembeddedrubrics;however,thecourseseemstobetoolinearsothatstudentsmustsitandcompletethemoduleallatonce.Jumpinginandoutofamoduledoesnotseemasstreamlined.
