KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees to kids aged 18 and under.
Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport.

When: Wednesday, November 9 to Wednesday, December 14
Where: Ecole McTavish Junior High Public School, 352 Parsons Creek Drive
Group A: 6 sessions of 1-hour/week CO-ED ages 14-16 (Mondays) $90 from 5:30-6:30pm
Group B: 7 sessions of 1-hour/week for Boys/Girls ages 7-9 (Wednesdays) $105 from 5:30-6:30pm
Group C: 13 sessions 1-hour/session 2xweek for Boys ages 10-13 (M/W) $195 from 6:30-7:30pm (includes Fitness appraisal)
Space is limited (minimum # of participants is required to run each session). Payment can be made by cash or cheque

Join us to share delicious appetizers and talk about apps for your “i-devices”. This session will focus on iPad/iPhones basics, how

Fort McMurray Ski Team 2nd Annual Fundraiser

The Fort McMurray Ski Team is excited to announce our 2nd annual fundraiser on November 25, 2016. This fun filled evening
is being held at the Canadian Brewhouse at 117-108 Riverstone ridge from 6pm-11pm. Please come out and support our

FMMBA Winter Ball
Program starts at the beginning of November 2016 and runs until the middle of March 2017. The cost of the program is $150,
which includes a hat, shorts and winter ball t shirt. We also require a $200 volunteer deposit, which will be based on 4hrs
volunteer commitment throughout the season.

Seniors' Falls Prevention Month
When: November
Where: Across Alberta
The theme of the 2016 campaign is to Stay Independent. Prevent Falls. Finding Balance is a national program developed by the
Injury Prevention Centre at the UofA and is designed to raise awareness of preventing slips, trips, and falls among older
Albertans and Canadians. The program uses real life strategies that older adults can use to lower their risk of a fall. The campaign
will raise a spotlight on each of our three key messages:
• Keep Active
• Check Your Vision
• Review Your Medications

Deadline is November 23
Where: Across Alberta
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, ParticipACTION is creating a 150 Play List – the ultimate list of all the physical activities
that make us Canadian. Challenge yourself and your friends to complete them all throughout 2017 for the chance to get active
and win a trip for three to Whistler, an appearance on TV, or even a new car! Over 100 events will be taking place from coast to
coast, so everyone has a chance to get moving, try something new, and prove how Canadian they really are! But first, help

Remembrance Day Ceremony
The Royal Canadian Legion, Fort McMurray Branch #165 will conduct a Remembrance Day Service in three phases as follows:
8:30 – 10:40 am Phase 1: Remembrance Day Service & Message
10:50- 11:30 am Phase 2: Cenotaph Service
11:30- 11:45 am Phase 3: March Past
A secondary service will also be conducted at the Legion located at 9317 Huggard Street. Both services are open to the public.

Auditions for Footloose: Bands
When: Saturday, November 12 (available times provided on website)
Where: Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre - Room AC139, 8115 Franklin Avenue
Keyano Theatre Company is holding auditions for their production of Footloose in February 2017. They are looking for bands to
take part. They are seeking advanced musicians to be a part of the band for Footloose the Musical. 16+ is encouraged, but
looking for skill and enthusiasm overall. We require musicians who can play Keyboard, Reeds (Clarinet, Flute, Tenor, Alto
and/or Baritone Sax), Guitar (Electric/Acoustic) Bass, and Drums/Percussion.

Auditions for Footloose: Actors
When: November 14 and 15 (available times provided on website)
Where: Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre - Room AC139, 8115 Franklin Avenue
Keyano Theatre Company is holding auditions for their production of Footloose in February 2017. They are looking for actors to
take part. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a song from a Contemporary Musical, or a Pop-Rock song. They will be asked
to read from the script. (The director suggests you read the script before coming to audition, scripts are available at the Keyano
Box Office during regular business hours to read. The scripts may not leave the building so please make sure you have time to
read them.) Actors 16 years of age and older will be selected.

Enbridge Famous 5 Speaker Series
When: Friday, November 17, 2016
Carla White will be the guest speaker at the Shell Place Ballroom as a part of the Enbridge Famous 5 Speaker Series. Carla
specializes in resilience and will talk about turning obstacles into opportunities. Tickets are $75 which includes dinner, the
presentation, and inspired learning.

Call to Local Artists: Artist in the Studio Program
Deadline for Submissions: Sunday, November 27
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is delighted to announce an exciting new program called “Artist in
the Studio”. This program will bring emerging artists together with students of all ages to participate in educational and
interactive art workshops. The program will encourage collaboration and interaction between students and local artists. There will
be four artists selected for this program.

Arts Presenting Grant – Deadline Extended
Deadline: November 22
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Arts Presenting grant stream is integral to the AFA’s support of The Spirit of Alberta,
Alberta’s cultural policy. The Arts Presenting grant stream supports the public presentation of professional artists in all artistic
disciplines by reimbursing a portion of professional artists' fees for the preceding year's presentation. Applications for this grant
stream are made through the Grants Application Tracking and Evaluation (GATE) online grant application system. (To obtain a
GATE user ID and password, send an e-mail request to [email protected] at least five business days prior to
the deadline.)

Call for Submissions: 2016 All-Albertan Song Contest
Deadline for Entries: November 28 by 12:00pm MST
The All-Albertan Song Contest is back! Write, record and submit your new, original, non-released song about Alberta and you
could win the $10,000 grand prize from ATB Financial. Second and third-place finishers will receive $3,000 and $2,000
respectively. New this year, all All-Albertan Song Contest finalists will be eligible for the Fan Choice Award as selected by
voters on the ATB Financial Facebook page. The Fan Choice Award winner receives $2,000.

Canada’s National Ballet School - 2016/2017 National
Audition Tour

Where: Citie Ballet: Ruth Carse Centre for Dance, 11205-107 Avenue, Edmonton
Description: Each Fall/Winter, a team of Canada’s National Ballet School Artistic staff travel across the country on a National
Audition Tour. The Tour stops in approximately 20 Canadian cities offering open classes and auditions. Admission to the
Professional Ballet Program is based on a two stage audition process. The National Audition Tour is the first stage, followed by
the second stage which takes place in July 2017.

The AFC provides emergency financial assistance to all who work professionally in the arts and entertainment industry, including
all aspects of film, television, theatre, music and dance. They strive to help Canadian entertainment professionals when illness,
injury or other personal or professional hardships compromise their health, dignity and ability to work. Applications are accepted
on an ongoing basis.

Residency Opportunity: University of Michigan, Stamps
School of Art & Design
Proposals Due: January 15, 2017
The mission of the Roman J. Witt Residency Program is to support the production of new work with assistance from the Stamps
School of Art & Design community. The program awards one residency per academic year for a visiting artist/designer to work
at the school to develop a new work in collaboration with students and faculty. To witness and partake in the creation of a defined
work from idea to realization is the centerpiece of the residency. This visibility of the artist’s process is intended as an exemplary
teaching tool for the school as a whole. The residency is expected to culminate in the realization of the proposed work, as well as
a presentation that summarizes the process and work accomplished.
Eligibility
The Witt Residency is open to both established and emerging artists/designers
Honorarium
$20,000 for up to twelve weeks in residence served over an academic year. There is flexibility in how the time in residence is
apportioned. In addition to the honorarium, residents will be provided with housing, studio space, and up to $5,000 funding
support for project materials.

Madrid Drone Film Festival
The Madrid Drone Film Festival aims to showcase the incredible work being done by aerial cinematography filmmakers from
around the world. This festival was created by the founders of the London Drone Festival who believe that the creative work
being done by filmmakers using drone technology “has the potential to radically change the filming industry.” Contestants can
enter into one or both events.
