What is the purpose of having a Foundation?

The Purpose of Establishing our Foundation is:

To secure funds for long-term planning To have a centralized location for fundraising To create a Board focused solely on fundraising To attract individual donors & private

foundations (i.e. Hites Foundation)

The Foundation works with Regions and Associations interested in establishing

endowments.

How to “Become” an AlumnusA Phi Theta Kappan is considered an Alumnus when he/she leaves to Community College - in good standing - through

GraduationTransfer to senior institutionEntering the work force

The Role of Alumni . . . .

To support the established goals of chapters & regions through volunteerism and financial support.

Chapters/regions can engage alumni by welcoming support of: Event registration & hospitality Induction ceremonies Membership Drives Chapter projects & fundraisers Mentorship

The Role of Regional Coordinators & Officers

To help facilitate communication of the established goals of regional leadership to help align goals and action plans

Regional Coordinators have the privilege of appointing/approving Association Advisors for Regional Associations.

First Steps: Identify an advisor & recruit 15 charter members

Then: Submit paperwork and plan ceremony

Annual ConventionIn 2010, alumni donated more than 350 hours of service – an impact of more than $4,500

Honors InstituteThe Nevada/California Regional Alumni provided snacks, door prizes, and literature about the area for R&R Day during Registration for our 2010 Institute at Chapman University

Alumni Socials Past socials hosted at Convention & Institute, as well as in

Washington DC and New York City Future socials planned for Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, St. Louis…
