InternetExplorerConfigurationForRelativity
Overview: This document will detail how to set up the Internet Explorer browser for optimal usability
with the Relativity document review application. Internet Explorer must be used to connect to the
Relativity website. If you are using a Mac, you must be set up with a Citrix account so you can access
Internet Explorer via a virtual desktop.
Viewer Download:
Download and install the Relativity Viewer from this link:
https://relativity.epiqsystems.com/Relativity/ActiveX/ViewerInstallationKit.exe
If a Viewer application is currently installed on your PC, please uninstall the current version and install the
one downloaded from the above site to ensure you have the up to date version that Epiq is using. We are
currently using version 8.2.34004 – if you are using a higher version for another review outside of Epiq,
please let us know so we can reconcile your account settings.
Compatibility View:
To use Relativity with Internet Explorer 11+ versions, you will need to add the website to the compatibility
mode in the Internet Explorer browser.
To set Compatibility mode:
1. Go to Tools | Compatibility View settings
2. You can set this up either one of two ways:
• Add *.epiqsystems.com to the Compatibility View websites
or
• Select Display all websites in Compatibility View
Adding Relativity as a Trusted Site:
Relativity must be added as a Trusted Site in the browser in order for the Viewer application to function
correctly. To set this up:
1. Browse to Tools, then Internet Options. Select the Security tab, click to highlight Trusted Sites
(usually a green check mark), and then click the Sites button:
2. Type the following URL in the Add the website to the zone: textbox, then click add:
https://relativity.epiqsystems.com
3. Uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https) or all sites in this zone” which can lead to
viewer performance issues if left checked.
Check For Newer Versions of the Webpage & Clear The Browser Cache:
1. Within the Tools | Internet Settings | General window, select Settings in the Browsing History
section and choose “Every time I visit the webpage”:
2. Click OK, then select the Delete button under Browsing history:
3. Ensure these boxes are selected, uncheck all other boxes, then click Delete:
• Temporary Internet Files
• Cookies
• History
Click OK on the Internet Options window, then close Internet Explorer and restart your computer.
Other Internet Explorer Settings to Enable:
For optimal performance of the Relativity application, we suggest the following browser settings to be
enabled. These are not required, but we have found they assist in system performance while reviewing
documents.
1. After you add Relativity as a Trusted Site, click Custom level… in the Security tab:
2. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and Access data sources across domains. Select
Enable, and click OK.
3. Next scroll to the Downloads section and Enable the following and click OK:
• Automatic Prompting for File Downloads (if present)
• File Download
• Font Download
4. From the Privacy tab of Internet Options, uncheck Pop-up Blocker
