1 Introduction

This document contains the release notes of Nemo Handy-A version 2.10, release date September 30th, 2013. The document describes new functionalities and features, new supported terminals, and fixed problems.

2 New Terminals and Firmware Upgrades in Handy-A 2.10

3 Nemo Handy-A 2.10 New Features

3.1 POLQA Voice Quality Measurements with Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-

i9505

Nemo Handy-A 2.1 add support for mobile to server, and mobile to mobile POLQA voice

quality measurements with Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505.

3.2 RRC Signaling Decoding & Improved Signaling View

WCDMA and LTE RRC signaling decoding is supported in Nemo Handy-A 2.10. Decoding

is done by tapping on the message name on the signaling window. Nemo Handy-A tablet

UI has a fixed decoding window on the right hand side of the signaling grid, showing the

decoded content of the currently selected message of the signaling grid, similarly as in

Nemo Outdoor and Nemo Analyze.


3.3 Wi-Fi Offload and HetNet Monitoring in Real-time

Active packet technology is shown in Nemo Handy-A 2.10 in a real-time view. If the

terminal is connected to a Wi-Fi access point, packet technology is shown as WLAN.

Packet technology is available in summary page, and in indoor and outdoor maps.

Packet technology parameter including Wi-Fi makes it possible to measure the real

operation of Wi-Fi offloading and HetNet.


3.4 Transaction Log View

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 introduces a new view displaying the history of all voice and data

transactions. The transactions are shown in chronological order from the point of time

when Nemo Handy-A was started; the log can be also cleared. Key information is shown

for each transaction, including transaction status (success/drop/failure), avg. MOS,

duration, avg. throughput, transferred bytes.


3.5 Line Drawing on the Map for Serving Cell

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 supports line drawing to the serving cell BTS icon on the map. Line

drawing can be activated from Settings | Outdoor | Draw serving line(s).


3.6 Support for Samsung Multi-Task Window

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 supports Samsung multi-task window. The multi-task window allows

splitting of the screen to see and operate multiple applications simultaneously. This makes

it possible to generate traffic with third-party applications while monitoring the network

performance simultaneously with Nemo Handy-A.


3.7 POLQA MOS Real-time Statistics and POLQA Mode Set in Scripts

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 adds the real-time statistics of POLQA DL MOS. PDF distribution is

shown cumulatively for the received samples. Average, minimum, maximum, and standard

deviation of the MOS is also shown.

In addition, POLQA mode (Super Wideband/Narrowband), and used audio sample can be

set per call in the script settings.


3.8 Over the Air License Updates

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 supports license updates over the air via cellular or Wi-FI connection.

If license update is needed, for example, when adding support for POLQA measurements,

contact your Anite sales representative to add the feature to your Nemo Handy-A. After

this, open Nemo Handy-A and select About | Browse licenses | Refresh. A list of licenses

available for your Nemo Handy-A are displayed. Select the new license from the list to

apply the update. Manual transfer of license files is not needed anymore.


3.9 Other Improvements

- Photo Marker. Ability to take a photo with the terminal camera and attach it to the

log file as a marker.

- Volume control during voice calls. Volume control buttons can be used to adjust

volume during calls made from Nemo Handy-A.

- Serving and neighbor cells clearly differentiated. In all the grid views where serving

and neighbor cells are displayed, cell status (serving/neighbor, active set/monitored

set) is indicated with a letter (A/M/S/D) in a separate column.

- Ability to order callback from the Nemo Server in VQ tests. Time window to wait and

answer incoming call can be set in Nemo Handy script. Together with Nemo Server

callback function this allows to alternate incoming and outgoing calls in the test

sequence.

- Ability to change HTTP port in Nemo Handy script.

- Support for SMS E2E measurements. In the script it is possible to send SMS in

“End to End mode”, which embeds unique ID to message content. This makes it

possible to combine the data from the A and B party log files and calculate end to

end SMS success rate and transfer delay with Nemo Analyze.


4 Compatibility

4.1 Log File Format Compatibility

Nemo Handy-A 2.10 writes log files according to Nemo File Format v.2.17. The Nemo File

Manager version 3.5.37 or newer is compatible with Nemo Handy-A 2.10.

Full support for Nemo Handy-A 2.10 log files is available with Nemo Analyze version 6.60

and Nemo Outdoor version 7.1 and later. Older versions of Nemo Analyze and Nemo

Outdoor can be used as well, but the new metrics added to the Nemo File Format v2.17

will not be displayed.

4.2 Terminal Compatibility

Previous versions of Nemo Handy-A can be upgraded to version 2.10 by installing the

v.2.10 SW to the terminal.

Note! Uninstall previous Handy-A before installing version 2.10.

Note! Nemo Handy-A version 2.10 requires Android version 4.

Current FW version can be checked from the Nemo Handy-A About menu. FW upgrade

must be performed by Anite. Contact Nemo Helpdesk for further details at

[email protected].


5 Known Issues

HTTP browsing scripts downloading web pages with Java scripts may cause

Nemo Handy-A to crash after a few hours of measurement. The problem is

caused by memory leakage in the Android Web browser.
