Running the Informatica JDBC and ODBC Driver Installation or Upgrade on Linux

The successful Informatica JDBC and ODBC Driver installation or upgrade displays an error status message.

If you are running the Informatica JDBC and ODBC Driver installation or upgrade on Linux 32-bit, thefollowing error message appears in the Post-Upgrade Summary panel and theInformatica_<Version>_Services_InstallLog.log log file.

Status: ERROR

You can ignore the message.

Upgrading Profiles

When you create or upgrade a profiling warehouse, the create or upgrade task fails if one of the followingconditions is true:

¨ You create a profiling warehouse on a Microsoft SQL Server non-default schema.¨ You upgrade the profiling warehouse on a Microsoft SQL Server non-default schema from version 9.1.0 to

9.5.1.

Before you create or upgrade the profiling warehouse, make sure that the current database schema is thedefault one for the database connection login.

If you change the schema of a Microsoft SQL Server profiling warehouse database to a non-default schemaafter upgrade from version 9.1.0 to 9.5.1 and export column profile results from Informatica Analyst toMicrosoft Excel, the export task fails with an invalid object error.

When you reload a profile model after you upgrade from version 9.5.0 to version 9.5.1, the foreign keyinference option for enterprise discovery Use top ranked keys is incorrectly set to -5 instead of 1.

Installing Informatica Services or Running the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi)System Check Tool on Solaris or Linux

If you install the Informatica services or run the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check Tool onSolaris or Linux, the installer displays the Available Disk Space as 0 MB and the installation stops.

If you install the Informatica services or run the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check Tool on aSolaris or Linux machine with at least 1 TB of disk space, the installer displays the Available Disk Spacevalue as 0 MB due to the following Java issue: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6815768.

To work around the installation issue, before you install the Informatica services, verify that your machinemeets the minimum disk space requirements for the installation, and then run the following command todisable the disk space check:

Using a C shell:setenv DISK_SPACE_CHECK_ENABLED false

Using a Bash shell:export DISK_SPACE_CHECK_ENABLED =false

To work around the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check Tool issue, verify that your machinemeets the minimum disk space requirements for the installation.

Upgrading the Gateway Node

If you upgrade the domain, master node and gateway nodes, at the end of the gateway node upgrade, theInformatica Administrator Home Page URL address provided in the Post-Upgrade Summary panel is not valid.

After you upgrade the domain, master node and gateway nodes, at the end the gateway node upgrade, theURL address in the Post-Upgrade Summary panel is not valid because it points to the InformaticaAdministrator port number. The URL address should point to the gateway node port number.

To access the Informatica Administrator home page from the gateway node, when you enter the URL in theaddress field, replace the Informatica Administrator port number with the node port number. For example,type http://<host>:<gateway node port number>/administrator>.

Running the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver Upgrade on HP-UX and AIX

During the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver upgrade, the ODBC binary files that have beensuccessfully installed appear as failed.

If you are upgrading the Informatica Data Services ODBC driver on HP-UX or AIX, when you perform theupgrade, a warning message appears in the Post-Upgrade Summary panel and the following log file:Informatica_<Version>_Services_InstallLog.log.

Destination: /home/toolinst/INFA_Automation/AIX/JDBC1/950/950_JDBCInst/odbcdrv/libinfadsodbc.soStatus: WARNINGAdditional Notes: WARNING - Source file /home/toolinst/INFA_Automation/AIX/JDBC1/950/950_JDBCInst/odbcdrv/libinfadsodbc.so does not exist.

Uninstalling Informatica Services or Clients on Windows

If you install the Informatica services and Informatica clients on the same machine, uninstalling Informaticaremoves the ODBC directory. This issue affect installation on Windows.

When you install the Informatica services, the installer creates an ODBC entry that points to the<InformaticaInstallationDir>\ODBC7.0 directory. If you install the Informatica clients on the same machine,the installer updates the ODBC entry to point to the <InformaticaInstallationDir>\clients\tools\ODBC7.0directory. If you uninstall the Informatica clients, the uninstaller deletes the <InformaticaInstallationDir>\clients\tools\ODBC7.0 directory, to which the ODBC entry still points.

Similarly, when you install the Informatica clients, the installer creates an ODBC entry that points to the<InformaticaInstallationDir>\clients\tools\ODBC7.0 directory. If you install the Informatica services on thesame machine, the installer updates the ODBC entry to point to the <InformaticaInstallationDir>\ODBC7.0directory. If you uninstall the Informatica services, the uninstaller deletes the <InformaticaInstallationDir>\ODBC7.0 directory, to which the ODBC entry still points.

To work around the issue, after you uninstall the Informatica services or clients, restore the ODBC7.0 folderto the original location.

1. Before you uninstall the Informatica services or clients, copy the ODBC7.0 directory to a temporarydirectory on your local drive. For example, if you are uninstalling the Informatica services, copy the<InformaticaInstallationDir>\ODBC7.0 directory and its contents to C:\temp.

2. Perform the uninstallation.

3. After you uninstall the Informatica services or clients, recreate the ODBC7.0 directory path.

4. Copy the ODBC7.0 directory from the temporary directory to the recreated directory. For example, if youuninstalled the Informatica services, copy the ODBC7.0 folder and its contents to<InformaticaInstallationDir>.

Running the Informatica Services Installer in Graphical Mode on UNIX

If you are installing Informatica services on the Solaris 11 platform, the installer does not launch in graphicalmode.

When you run install.sh and press g to launch the installer in graphical mode, the installer does not respond.

Perform the Informatica services installation in console or silent mode.

306505 The following error occurs when you filter logs with the custom filter in the Administrator tool in the Eastern Standard time zone:"Start date cannot be greater than end date."

304631 When the Data Integration Service reuses a DTM process to run an SQL data service query or a web service request, the DataIntegration Service does not run a query to verify that the lookup table exists in the database.

292304 Log files generated by the Data Integration Service include a timestamp in the file name.

Informatica Domain Fixed Limitations

Review the Release Notes of previous releases for information about previous fixed limitations.

326101 After you run the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check, when you run the Informatica installer and you select theoption to install or upgrade Data Transformation engine only, the following message appears: "Do you want to continue theInformatica Server Installation (y/n)."

323241 The Informatica domain passes the authentication information as clear text if you run the Test Connection option when youcreate an ODBC connection.

323005 Node shut down with a null pointer exception in the BEEP connection handler.

320596 Stack trace printed to the domain log includes methods that can be used to decrypt Informatica user passwords.

320165 Gateway nodes shut down with a fatal error if you change the Administrator password after you start the nodes.

319472 When you upgrade to Informatica Services 9.5.0, if the domain database uses a named instance, the installer does not pick upthe domain credentials from nodemeta.xml. As a result, the upgrade fails.

319021 The Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check verifies the availability of port number 6010 during the default port rangecheck. If port number 6010 is not available, the following message appears: [Fail] Port range is 6,005 - 6,010. Some ofthe port numbers within the port range are not available for the Informatica installation. Stop theapplication service that is running within the port range or specify a different port range. The Informaticainstaller does not use port number 6010, so it should not be included in the port range check.

315572 During the Informatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check, the Microsoft SQL Server Case Sensitivity parameter that haspassed the check appears as failed in the System Check Summary panel.

315243 If you are installing or upgrading Informatica in console mode and on the Solaris x64 or zLinux platform, the following messageappears:"To verify whether a machine meets the system requirements for an Informatica installation, run the Pre-Installation SystemCheck Tool (i9Pi) before you start the installation process. You can find the i9Pi tool in the following directory: /i9Pi".

314638 If you are installing or upgrading Informatica in console mode and you specify a custom JDBC connection string during theInformatica Pre-Installation (i9Pi) System Check, install.sh command line error messages appear.

314506 If you install the Informatica services on AIX 6.1, the installer does not check the minimum AIX technology level. If you installInformatica on an unsupported AIX 6.1 technology level, the installer continues the installation without warning.

314086 The Administrator tool allows insecure HTTP methods such as Options and Delete.

312313 If you use LDAP authentication, the Informatica domain hangs if the connection to the LDAP server terminates.

311553 If you are installing or upgrading Informatica in console mode, the following message appears after you press c to start theinstallation:"Preparing SILENT Mode Installation..."

309105 The Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5 does not load with the driver manager in AIX systems.

308755 The workflow log file does not include the thread name for each log event.

308754 The Informatica domain does not log the tomcat events for a node in Windows.

308752 The administrator.log file does not contain the thread name field.

307188 The Administrator tool takes a long time to load over a wide area network.

306938 Informatica domain shuts down with a Java out of memory error.

306111 You cannot create a Data Integration Service in Informatica Administrator on non-English operating systems.

305851 You cannot cancel or abort a workflow when a Command task has spawned a new process that is still running.

305523 Show Query Plan runs continuously when you query an SQL data service that contains data quality transformations.

305455 Data object caching does not work on IBM DB2 for data objects that contain binary columns with precision that exceeds 256bytes. The Data Object Cache Manager creates empty tables in the cache database that cannot be used for storage.

305412 When the Maximum Session Size property for the Data Integration Service is set to a value higher than 2 GB, mappings fail torun from the Developer tool.

305047 The Administrator tool might become unresponsive if the domain fails over when the Administrator tool is not running on themaster gateway node.

304882 The Monitoring tab does not sort newly added jobs by start time when there are multiple jobs displayed in list view.

304769 An ODBC DSN failure occurs when business intelligence tools try to consume the Informatica Data Services ODBC Driver 9.5that was installed as part of the Informatica server installation.

326894 The Content Management Service does not verify that you have Edit Reference Table Data privileges when you perform asearch and replace operation on reference table data in the Analyst tool.

325968 The Abort option is disabled under the Requests tab in the Connection page when you a run an SQL data service request.Workaround: You can abort the request from the Requests page.

323289 When you use the infacmd cms CreateService command to create a Content Management Service, the operation does notvalidate the following command options: Model Repository Service name, user name, and password.

323276 An ODBC client application might stop unexpectedly if it uses the Informatica Data Services ODBC driver to connect to multiplevirtual tables and issue multiple queries against the tables at the same time.

323196 If you restart the Data Integration Service with the Abort disable option when you run a mapping on a Hadoop cluster, scriptand Hive query incorrectly display the status as completed instead of aborted.

322699 The following error appears when you try to fetch logs in the Administrator tool:"Could not fetch the logs as the cursor object is too large. Please re-apply the filters to narrow down the logs search."

320089 The Administrator tool hangs or a script error occurs when you monitor a large number of concurrent jobs.

320085 After you recycle the Data Integration Service with the abort option, mappings that were running when you recycled the DataIntegration Service are in the Unknown state.

319930 The Content Management Service does not verify that a user has Edit Reference Metadata privileges when a user editsreference table metadata. You can select or clear the Edit Reference Metadata privilege for users in the Administrator tool. Allusers can edit reference table metadata regardless of the option setting.

314139 If you run infacmd rtm Import to create a reference table and you do not have create or edit permissions, the import commandcan create an empty folder at the path you specify.

305433 When you run a workflow on grid, the workflow does not perform load balancing in a Mapping task in the following scenario:- The workflow uses the exceptionLoadCount variable that the Mapping task writes as output.- The mapping runs on a worker node.

304354 When a node shuts down, some processes running on the node remain running as orphan processes.

299741 When the Domain shuts down, the catalina.out log file contains multiple messages that are not valid for the shutdown. Themessages describe conditions that cause memory leaks. You can ignore these messages.

280882 PowerCenter and Metadata Manager reports have the following issues in JasperReports Server:- The Top 10 Session with Rejected Rows (Yesterday) and Top 5 Session Error Messages reports do not provide correct

information when the data source is on a Sybase repository.- You cannot run PowerCenter dashboards when the data source is on IBM DB2 version 9.1.- You cannot launch lineage from Metadata Manager reports.

280445 If you do not perform any activity in the Administrator tool for a while, an "Unknown" message appears.Workaround: Close the message, and then the session expires.

277849 No error appears if you do not specify the required code page when you create a Data Integration Service grid.Workaround: Specify the code page.

273644 If you incorrectly install IBM DB2 client on a Windows 64-bit machine that runs Informatica Services and perform a datapreview on an IBM DB2 table, the Java Platform SE binary stops working and the Data Integration Service shuts downunexpectedly.Workaround: Reinstall IBM DB2 client correctly.

272366 The security domains do not appear when you view the assignments of a custom role.

265462 When the gateway node fails over, the PowerCenter Integration Service might not get enabled.Workaround: Set the maximum number of retry attempts for a service to start up to 10 in the Administrator tool.

267910 Test connection fails for relational connections of INFASQL type.

267051 Cannot access the Reporting and Dashboards Service after you change the node when you edit the service.

236559 infacmd CreateConnection command option values with spaces must be enclosed by single quotes on Windows and UNIX. OnUNIX, you must also enclose the command option in double quotes.

316501 If the Service Manager is under a heavy load, it might not renew user authentication tokens before the expiration time. As aresult, you might encounter a user session expired error when you connect to the Model Repository Service from the Developertool or when you deploy an application to the Data Integration Service using the Developer tool or Administrator tool.Workaround: Recycle the Model Repository Service and then the Data Integration Service. Then, restart the Developer tool orlog out and then log back in to the Administrator tool.

314772 If you use port names that include punctuation or control characters in an expression, you might encounter the following errorwhen you run a mapping, preview data, or preview web service messages: "Problem communicating with DIS service."Workaround: Modify the port names so that they do not include punctuation or control characters.

313012 The Developer tool imports the SAP HANA date, time, seconddate, and timestamp datatypes as the varchar datatype.Workaround: Manually change the date, seconddate, and timestamp datatypes to timestamp. Change the time datatype tovarchar.

312563 If you compile a classifier model and the compilation process consumes the available memory, the Developer tool does notdisplay an error. The memory is set on the Content Management Service, and the service writes an out of memory error to thelog.

304571 The Developer tool generates an error when you run a join profile if the following conditions are true:1. Create a join profile on multiple data objects in the profile model.2. Specify a self join condition on columns in one of the data objects.3. Save and run the profile.4. Add another join condition across multiple data objects.5. Save and run the profile.
