Searching studies from various points of view of around fifty monuments existing on the hill of Sanchi have been conduc ted til l dat e res ult ing in pub lic ati on of vas t lit erature. Arc hae olo gic al exc ava tio ns conducted in and around San chi have thrown floodlight on various issues related to yet un solved  problems of political, cultural, art and architectural, epigraphically as well as many other aspects of this site antiquated between 3 rd Century BCE and 12 Century CE. Recently, on September 12, 2012, the Government of Madhya Pradesh announced the University of Buddhist and Indic Studies, which is being built in collaboration with the Government of Sri Lanka and Bhutan which will be located at Sanchi in close proximity to the great Stupa. Designed by Sri Lankan architect S.W.Isurunath Bulankulame, the University will have various facilities, combined with a green landscape and usage of Natural energy. The foundation stone for the University was laid on September 17, 2012 by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Jigmi Yozyer Thinley and Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka President Bangala Upatissa Nayaka Thero. Con sid eri ng that tre mendous pot ent ial iti es exist in stu dies rel ate d to the His tor y, Art , Architecture, Archaeology, Excavations, Conservation and Preservation, Epigraphy, Museums, Water Management etc. of Sanchi and its neighbourh ood we propose to undertake pub lication of a book entitled : “  Buddhist Monuments of Sanchi- A   Reappraisal” incorporating latest researches and views on the subjects stated above. This prestigious publication proposed to be undertaken by a renowned Publishing House of Delhi shall be entirely on Art Paper with colored as well as Black-and - White illustrations. Since your contributions to Indic Studies are well known, we invite you to kindly contribute a research paper on any one of the above mentioned aspects of Sanchi. Kindly send your consent by reply post to any one of the signatories below. We will expect your consent by 30-1-2013 and your research paper by 31.3.2013 at the latest. The research paper be neatly typed and hard as well as the soft copies be supplied along with B-W as well as colored plates and illustrations. On publication, a supply of a complimentary copy of the  published book is hereby assured.
