Exoshield.
Itdidnotcomeasasurprisethat Iwas
unable to achieve proper eye to optic
alignmentwiththeESSgoggle,norwasI
abletoachieveaconsistentcheekweld
bothofwhichareextremelyimportant
when precision engagements are
required.
Revisions Exoshield with their
extreme low profile was quite a
differentstory.
Eyetoopticalignmentandaconsistent
cheek weld is preserved requiring no
adjustment in my shooting or head
position.
The Exoshield has probably less than
onehalfthe internalvolumeoftheESS
military goggles, which translates into
severaldistinctoperationaladvantages.
One of which is impact to peripheral
vision.
The ESS goggles extend out from the
head a good distance and its frame is
larger so they have an adverse impact
on operator peripheral vision in both
theverticalandhorizontalplain.
The
Exoshield,
due
to
its
very
low
profile, does not suffer from that
anomalysothereisnolossofperipheral
visiononeitherplane,whichmeansthat
operator situational awareness is not
limitedbyhiseyeprotection.
This is vitally important in CQC / CQB
where reaction times need to be near
instantaneous,andwheretheproximity
to friendly fire could result inunburnt
powder or hot shell casings impacting
youreyesandface.
Volumealsocontributestoapropensity
for the goggle to fog, and both the
Exoshield and ESS goggles fogged;
however, the ESS goggle fogged more
easily although it is extremely well

TheESSgoggle,withitssoftcushionfit,
hadaslightadvantageincomfort;thisis
highlydependenton the shapeofyour
face. However,theExoshieldwasalso
quite comfortable and significantly
lighter than theESSgoggles.Prolonged
usagewasnoproblem.
The optic quality that went into the
Exoshield is amazing. Try as I may, I
did not observe optical aberrations,
even at the edges; fantastic does not
adequately describe it. In fact, it took
only a minor refocus of my scopes
eyepiecetogetacrispandclearreticle
image.
Conclusion
Revision
has
done
a
superb
job
of
eliminating all of the distractions that
become excuses for not wearing eye
protectionatalltimes,andtheyvedone
itatanMSRPof$49.99.
TheExoshieldwith its lightweightand
ergonomic design delivers a level of
performance previously unavailable in
theconventionalgoggledesign.
