Rewarding Excellence - Iberia's Top Lawyers Under 40

As the Jury of the Iberian Lawyer 40 under Forty Awards we are pleased to welcome you to theinaugural Awards Ceremony, where we are recognising the achievement of the new generation helping

to shape the future of the Iberian legal profession.

The awards are open to lawyers from any jurisdiction working on Iberian related matters either within Spainor Portugal or anywhere around the world – still under the age of 40 before the end of 2007 – working within

business, law firms, education or public service.

We are very grateful to all of the lawyers who participated – there were over 250 in total – including the clients andcolleagues who nominated candidates and the managing partners and law firm business professionals who assisted theirsubmissions.

Quality has been the sole criteria for judging candidates, however, the aim has been to recognise more than just legalexcellence. Many of the winners are already playing a significant leadership role in their organisation and making a usefulcontribution to the wider society in which we live.

As you will see on the following pages, all 40 winners have already achieved exceptional results and we look forward tohearing about their continued success in the future.

He has recentlyaccepted a newly created position with Terra Firma, the European private equity house, assistingthem with in their relationships with regulators and governments while also playing a role withbanks and investors.

As a member of both the “40 Under Forty” Awards Jury and Iberian Lawyer’s Editorial AdvisoryBoard, he is uniquely placed to Chair the inaugural awards ceremony.

João Lourenço, General Counsel, Millenium BCP.João Lourenço, in addition to being the General Counsel, Millenium BCP. is also, President of theCompany Lawyers Institute of the Portuguese Bar Association, which represents every companylawyer practising in Portugal.
