With the update it now allows you to control a party were 16 friends can join and have a group conversation.

PS3 also have online gaming, although there service is availablefor free with basically the same experience, however without the party option. As PS3 offer their online services for free there has been a boost in the amount of subscribers. Although Xbox still rain supreme in the online front with one of their fans commenting “£40 a year for a better connection and experience through Xbox is worth the extra money you have to pay.”
