End of Term Arrangements Friday 27 March 2015 School will close at 12.45 pm on Friday 27 March 2015 to start the Easter Holidays. School reopens at 8.40 am on Monday 13 April 2015 to begin the summer term. We wish all of our students and families a pleasant Easter break.

Mexican themed lunch in the Restaurant

Chef Phil and the Cucina staff treated us to lunch Mexican style on Thursday. Buen provecho!! Our hungry students had the opportunity to build their own taco, with chillli beef, fajita chicken or refried beans. To follow, they chose between Churros and chocolate sauce, our favorite, and as a break time snack, piñata cookies with a surprise in the middle.

Parents’ Forum

Teddington School’s next Parents’ Forum will take place on Wednesday 18 March 2015 at 7.00pm in the School Theatre. Gill Hines will be leading Parents’ Forum this term with a presentation about self esteem and young people. All families from all year groups are welcome to attend. This 1 hour presentation will then be followed by a 30 minute Parents’ Forum agenda which includes details about progress on issues raised by families at the last meeting, feedback from the working party on extra curricular activities and then time to raise any other general issues with the school. Our Headteacher, John Wilkinson, will be present to lead the discussion again. A reminder that this forum is to consider general issues about developing the school and as such personal issues affecting particular students should continue to be addressed by the normal communication routes. These are detailed on the contact page of the school website. If you are able to join us, please email [email protected] to confirm your attendance. We look forward to seeing you at 7.00pm, after the Year 9 consultation evening.

Comic Relief Day

Friday 13 March was Comic Relief Day. Students came to school in their own appropriate clothes and brought a minimum donation of £1. There were many cake and bake sales to raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief.

8AS Car Cleaning Fundraiser All this week the pupils from 8AS took some time after school to clean the staff’s cars for a fundraiser . Watch a video of the pupils in action here.

Comic Relief 2015 On Friday the 13 March 2015, Teddington School raised money for Comic Relief. Students were allowed to wear mufti. However some brave people (including teachers) went the extra mile by dressing up, these included those who wore banana costumes, teletubbies outfits and assorted onesies. Throughout the day, many amazing fundraising activities took place such as face painting, sponsored silences, guess the number of sweets in a jar and an Easter Egg raffle! A group of Sixth formers waxed some very brave fellow students’ legs. There was a massive cake sale and car washes for staff cars. 250 red noses were also sold by the Sixth Formers and they were all sold out by 9 am! Lots of teachers, including Ms Pollard and Ms Green, wore some funky wigs to make the day extra lively. It was great fun, and most importantly we raised large amounts of money for those who need it most. Bring on Comic Relief 2016! By Holly Urquhart, 10AY and Ally Macleod, 10AW.

Music Day at Hampton School Last week, Mr W Cragg, Subject Leader for Music, had the pleasure to escort a group of our students to Hampton School for Music Day. Young musicians came together and enjoyed a fun day making music. Around 200 musicians took part in the annual ISSP Music Day. Pupils from Hampton and The Lady Eleanor Holles School (LEH) joined forces with musicians from Hollyfield School, Teddington School, Hampton Academy, Orleans Park and Tolworth Girls to enjoy a fantastic day of music making.

To begin the rehearsal process, all the musicians and singers were split into their respective sectionals. The singers went next door to LEH for the day for choral rehearsals, directed by Mrs Miranda Ashe, whilst the orchestral players were at Hampton under the direction of Mr Iain Donald and Dr Matthew Ward. After lunch, the sections combined creating an enormous wall of sound and the day culminated with a concert performed to a packed 450 Hall. The standard was set very high from the start, after the brass band opened with Anderson's Bugler's Holiday and Osterling's Bandology. This was followed up by a guitar solo from an Orleans Park pupil, and a saxophone solo by a musician from Tolworth Girls' School. Singing followed, with a beautiful solo rendition of With You from Ghost the Musical and a Hampton Academy group of singers accompanied by guitar performed Yours Sincerely, composed by one of the singers,Sophie Faggetter. The first half was then brought to an end by Hollyfield School's Chamber Choir and their Sweeney Todd Medley. After the break, the full force of the orchestra and choir were combined and the audience were treated to a fantastic second half, featuring excerpts from Bizet's Carmen and Mussorgsky's Great Gate of Kiev. The night was finished with the orchestra and choir combining one last time to perform a fantastic medley of songs from the musical Wicked!

Those who took part in the day left the event commenting how lucky they were to experience such a fun day of music with so many new faces. Director of Music at Hampton, Mr Iain Donald, was delighted with the event: "A wonderful day of collaborative music making, and such a pleasure to see so many pupils from the seven partnership schools performing together at the evening concert. A real achievement in such a short time."
