Welcome back to everyone for the final term of the year. I hope that
students, their families and the staff members had a relaxing, healthy and
enjoyable holiday break. Undoubtedly, it will be another busy term as our
students complete their final dynamic and busy programs of work. This term
will see the students in our athletics representative team practicing for and
competing in the Interschool Faction Athletics Carnival to be held in Week 3,
whilst there will be plenty of other events such as Messy Mud Week in
November and the selections of our 2019 School and Sports leaders.
Semester 2 student reports will also be distributed at the end of term, with
our Year 6 students engaging in regular dance practice in preparation for
their Dinner/Dance to be held in December. In addition, we will have our
usual number of excursions across the school, making for an engaging and
full ten weeks. If you are a new family to our school, we welcome you and
hope that your children will enjoy their experience at Riverton.
Congratulations to all those students who won awards at the final assembly
for the term held on Friday 21 September. The awards reflect the hard work,
commitment and abilities demonstrated by the winners, who earned those
awards. Thank you to the large number of parents who attended and to the
student leaders for their impressive leadership during the event. It was great
to be able to hold our assembly back in the Covered Assembly Area that has
been repaired after being damaged by vandals early in third term.
Our teachers and education assistants worked hard yesterday at our School
Development Day. A number of sessions on a variety of issues were
presented, related to assessment, pedagogy and resourcing. Planning is
also underway for the 2019 school year. Thank you to all those who
presented.
Planning for 2019 is now underway. If you are not returning to Riverton Primary School in 2019 would you please fill in the slip below for students in kindergarten to year 5 in 2018. Please return to the front office as soon as possible.

Supporting young people with cancer is so important. Cancer is very different in a young person’s world. Our school has agreed to participate in National Bandana Day which is to be held on Friday 26 October 2018. It’s a fundraising and awareness day for CanTeen (supports young people with cancer). We would love everyone to be involved and it’s as easy as purchasing a bandana (small scarf) for only $5.00 and wearing it on Friday 26 October 2018. Bandanas will be on sale outside the school canteen from 9 October 2018 at recess and lunch times. Let’s band together and enthusiastically support National Bandana Day! Thank you. Maria Stanbridge and Student Leaders
