Occupational Group: Health – Nursing Classification: Nurse Grade 5 Workplace Location: Cairns, Queensland Job ad reference: Closing date: Yearly Salary: Remuneration based on previous experience Contact Person: Danielle Parent Contact details: 07 4041 0088 About this role The Registered Nurse provides cancer and specialist palliative care nursing practice and employs the delivery of competent, best practice, quality nursing care to patients across the cancer care trajectory. The position works in collaboration with the senior Clinical Nurses, the Nurse Unit Manager and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the management and development of clinical services. Key accountabilities • Ability to demonstrate patient and family centered care principles. • Expectation to participate in patient centered care with an emphasis on the
patient and whole of family care throughout the cancer trajectory. • Participate and promote a culture in clinical and professional supervision and
participate in education and learning. • Demonstrates innovation and flexibility in the face of a change. • Actively contributes to the maintenance of a safe workplace that values the
health and safety of co-workers, clients or visitors. • Actively contribute to maintenance of a culture where staff are vigilant of risks to
themselves, their co-workers, clients or visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).
• Actively participate in the Performance Planning and Appraisal and Individual Development Planning processes.
Further information This role will require the incumbent to provide evidence of vaccination/immunity against vaccine preventable illnesses. The incumbent must also have registered and be a member in good standing of AHPRA.
How you will be assessed You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your role’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following: • Demonstrated experience in cancer nursing, inclusive of palliative and radiation
Oncology is highly desirable. • Demonstrated knowledge and clinical skills specific to the area of Haematology
& Oncology Nursing. • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the safe handling and administration of
cytotoxic drugs. ADAC certification desired or evidence of working towards considered.
• Demonstrated problem solving abilities. • Proven track record of working effectively within a team environment. • Commitment to the provision of a high customer service level. • Demonstrated ability to advocate, educate, inform, counsel and support patients
and families on general and clinical information relevant to the patient's care and accessing the appropriate clinicians when expert advice is required.
• Demonstrated active involvement in quality activities for service improvement. • Participation in relevant educational activities that enhance personal knowledge
and support the delivery of quality nursing care. • Ability to comply with the requirements of human resource management
practices including workplace health & safety, antidiscrimination practices and positive behavior in the work environment.
