Mental: Main: Convert Roman numerals
Mental: Main: Go through PowerPoint which has the following content:
Examples of where we still see Roman numeral e.g. on clocks, in the Super Bowl name and for Kings e.g. Henry VIII
The symbols used: I = 1, V = 5, X = 10, L = 50 and C = 100 (they didn’t have a symbol for 0)
The three rules for using Roman numerals:
Lower ability – convert Roman numerals to modern numbers and vice versa, with numbers up to 10
Give each child a card with either a Roman numeral or a modern number on it
