“The virtual field trip was AWESOME! My favorite part was

insulting each other in Shakespearian language, it was SO funny

and you don't get to it every day. The most important thing that I

took away from this experience was that the language of a

character reflects how they feel on the inside. Thanks to the

teachers for giving us this great opportunity!”

- Emileigh S.

“I enjoyed something different. It was not an everyday lesson or

lecture so the virtual field trip was pretty cool to experience. I

learned how to say good-bye to a gentleman.”

- Laura R.

“I liked the professor lady (can't recall her name) that ran it. She

seemed to know her topic and taught it in an interesting way. I

learned a lot about Shakespeare and his time period, like the

whole "bigger is better, more is more" feeling of the era.”

- John W.

“I enjoyed being able to connect with someone via Internet who

was a real expert on Shakespeare and taught about Shakespeare

for a living.

One thing I learned was that 'you' is formal, and 'thou' is

informal. I'd think it would be reversed, and I wonder why we

have completely dropped 'thou' from our everyday vocabulary.”

- Katie P.

“I personally enjoyed learning how to bow and properly insult

someone in the Elizabethan time period. I learned how to use

"thou" and "you" properly, and I learned how the English people

showed their expansion in the world through their clothing.”

- Nick G.

“I liked our virtual field trip that we took today. It was a different

fun way to learn about Shakespeare. I liked learning how to

curtsy and insult people as they would in the Elizabethan era.”

- Erica C.

“I personally found the technology of everything today highly

superb. Just the fact that she could be in New Jersey and look

through a camera and see us was dumbfounding. It'll probably,

though, in 20 or so years, be nothing above average. Also, I

learned how to insult someone and bow to m'lady in Elizabethan

times.”

- Reid F.

“I thought it was cool that we got to actually get up and move

around. I learned more on what life was like back then.”

- Allison W.

“One aspect I enjoyed about today‟s virtual field trip was the

Shakespearian insults. It was very fun. It was also an interesting

thing to learn. Another thing I learned today was that „thou‟ was

used on a different level than „you.‟ Finally we dived deeper into

the characters of Rome and Juliet, learning more about their

personalities.”

- Katie R.

“I liked how much more insight we got on the era that Romeo

and Juliet took place in. I also learned how guys used to bow.”

- Hany O.

“I liked how the teacher was actually in the classroom, pretty

much and was able to talk to us directly. I learned how to insult

people in a different type of language.”

- Alysia L.

“I liked how it was something different and something I have

never done/ experienced before. I learned how to curtsey to a

gentlemen and that was kind of funny to think that they used to

do something like that.”

- Jenny J.

“I liked our virtual field trip today. It was really cool and

insightful. My favorite aspect was that we got to learn what

people who lived in the Elizabethan era would say to each other

and how, and also the way they bowed and curtseyed from a

professional. I learned many things today, for one I learned some

of the meanings behind Shakespeare‟s insulting language.”

- Christina N.

“The experience was something new and it was cool to be taught

by a college professor for a day. I learned a lot of new insults.”

- Patrick G.

“I thought the virtual field trip was very interesting. I liked the

fact that the class was talking to someone across the country and

we called them like on a phone. I learned about how big and

elaborate the clothing was back then.”

- Brenden C.

“I thought it was fun to learn the insults of that time period and

how they are completely different from now. I learned how to

curtsey, which is funny to think they did that.”

- Tasha B.
