iv. Other operations are same.

2.2.4 Operation of SMS mode

As Figure 13, once using ‘SMS’ mode to connect repeater, user shall connect the computer with the cellular

phone or wireless modem. User also need set the communication parameters for remote connection. Please

check the previous section ‘serial port setting for remote connection’ for the relevant instruction. Other

operations are same as Local mode. But remote connection will result in slow response for every command. In

ordinary circumstance, it takes between 30 and 60 seconds for the repeater to respond a command. So user

shall commit ‘Get’ and ‘Set’ action one by one to improve response speed.

The message window will indicate short message sent successfully when the command is executed

successfully. As Figure 24:

Figure 24

2.2.5 Operation of SMS mode

Data mode is similar with SMS mode. Data mode requires the computer connect with cellular phone or

wireless modem. It also requires remote connection setting. Committing ‘Get’ and ‘Set’ action one by one is

also recommended to improve response speed.

The difference between Data mode and SMS mode is: in ‘Data mode’, after clicking ‘connect’ button, OMT

will dial up immediately. As the following figure:

Figure 25

After being connected successfully, the main window shows.

a) Using dial up, connection is difficult to setup and data communication is slow and unreliable. User can

click the ‘Dial up’ button in the toolbar to redial when the dialup connection is disconnected. As the following

figure:

Figure 26

b) User can click ‘Hang up’ button to hang up the connection. As the following figure:

2.5 Notes for remote communication

a) The system has 2 modes for remote communication: SMS mode or Data mode. System couldn’t transfer

from one mode to another automatically. User can send command to switch the working mode. Working with

local mode, user can switch arbitrarily. However, in remote mode, user shall know which mode he/she working

with. Then he/she use command to switch the system from one to another. For example, user works in SMS

mode. He/she shall use OMT to send a SMS command to switch the working mode to data mode. Repeater

receives the SMS. If repeater accept the command, it reply a successful setting SMS. After the message is sent

successfully, repeater is switched to data mode. Then, user shall use data mode to query and set parameters in

the repeater.

b) To remotely control, the specified phone number shall be same as ‘MOC Query/Control phone NO.’

Otherwise, user can’t set parameter but query parameter in the repeater. As the following figure:

Page 19: Rosenberger OMT Software User Manual

OMT Software User Manual

Figure 35

c) In SMS mode, ‘SMSC phone No.’ in ‘Engineering Parameter’ tab must be specified correctly. Otherwise

repeater can’t work., As the following figure:

Figure 36

d) In data mode, OMT software has 1 minute timing protection on the packages sent out. When data

connection is established, we suggest user wait about 20 seconds to execute commands against repeater. If the

system has no response, user shall wait more than 1 minute for OMT.

e) For closed repeater, user shall reset cut the power supply of the repeater after inserting SIM card.

Thank you very much for your support!
