Application: The bulk solid material was highly corrosive when mixed with water. Existing
systems were falling apart. Not to mention the existing mixing of the solid was far less than
acceptable. First, the customer’s existing system lost up to 20% of the raw material due to
the open construction. Second, the mixing was so poor that another 30% of the raw material
settled out of the dilution stream. The customer was aware of the systems available on the
market, but did not have the time nor the in-house engineering to fix the system. Ross
Systems & Controls was commissioned to engineer a single turn-key system.
Application Specialist: To even attempt an application of this complexity required multiple
skill sets; mixing, electrical, process automation and mechanical / structural engineering.
The end user had no room for error and an unyielding schedule. The Batch Dilution system
dramatically improves powder induction in a liquid stream. The unique rotor/stator in the
SLIM system is the first to include “Progressive Spiral Porting,” which produces high flow,
high shear, and a high level of vacuum within the rotor/stator generator. This enables the
system to induct powders at unprecedented rates. This results in shorter mixing cycles,
improved end-product quality, and a safer working environment by eliminating “dusting” in

Integration: Ross designed the system to allow for
single point utilities. Three phase electrical, com-
pressed air, raw water feed pipe, solution discharge
and drain.
