Primary Goals of Policy1. Ensure all youth in district sponsored programs are protected from abuse and harassment2. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are properly screened and certified3. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are oriented with youth protection policies/procedures4. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth have an understanding of abuse and harassment, and are familiar with reporting procedures

VOLUNTEER SCREENING AND CERTIFICATIONScreening must be conducted on all volunteers who have a supervisory role or significant interaction with youth. Additionally, all district officials, committee chairs, club or district officers who may have a supervisory role or significant interaction with youth must be certified. Youth Policy Page 4

To become certified, the individual must:Complete and submit to a Background Check Meet Rotary International/District eligibility requirements for working with youthParticipate in District or Club Youth Protection orientation or trainingUnderstand and comply with the District Youth Protection Policy

District Youth Protection Officer (DYPO)

1. Assist Clubs with youth protection issues2. Monitor youth protection procedures3. Track and maintain background checks4. Maintain and monitor complaint procedures5. Stay in contact with District Officials regarding youth protection issues, and related laws, regulations and policiesYouth Policy Page 4

District Officer and Committee Chair Responsibilities

1. Inform committee members and club officers of the requirements of the Youth Protection Policy and promote compliance with the Youth Protection Policy2. Certify to the District Governor annually of compliance with the District Youth Protection Policy (Appendix C)Youth Policy Page 3

1. Waiver signed by students parent/guardian

2. Waivers can be disbursed with RYLA and Youth Exchange applications, and to Interact/Rotaract students at the beginning of the school year
