THUMB - 1 MP Flexion: ROM
Position (A) Helper: Stabilize thumb near wrist. Hold sides of thumb.
Motion (B) - Bend at large joint
toward little finger.
Repeat times. Repeat with other hand.
Do sessions per day. Variation: Alternate position for helper: Place fingers on back of thumb.
Patient is passive.
THUMB - 2 MP Flexion: Isometric
Position Patient: Keep hand steady. Helper: Stabilize thumb near wrist. Place fingers under thumb.
Motion - Cue patient to bend
thumb toward palm. - Wrist and arm do not move. - Helper blocks movement.
Hold seconds. Relax. Repeat times.
Repeat with other hand. Do sessions per day.

hand at palm, wrist in straight position. Motion - Helper lifts thumb
up and back. CAUTION: Do not force movement. Hold seconds. Repeat times.
Repeat with other hand. Do sessions per day. Variation: Perform with wrist: flexed toward palm.

THUMB - 12 Abduction: IsometricPosition Patient: Keep hand steady, thumb away from palm at right angle. Helper: Stabilize with hand around palm. Place fingers of other hand along outer edge of thumb.Motion - Cue patient to press thumb against helper's fingers. - Wrist does not move. - Helper blocks movement. Hold seconds. Relax. Repeat times.
Repeat with other hand. Do sessions per day. Variation: Perform with thumb level with palm. Cue patient to press outward.
