A unique, inspiringstory

Row2Recovery is the brainchild of three former British Army commanders who trained together at Sandhurst before going on to see extensive combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

All three men were profoundly moved by their experiences and feel compelled to help those men and woman who suffered life changing injuries as a result of their service. From this desire to help, Row2Recovery was born.

Concept Row2Recovery aims to raise £1m for three service charities Help for Heroes, ABF the Soldier’s Charity and the Soldiers, Seaman, Airman and Families Association.

Former Bristish Army captains Ed Janvrin and Alex MacKenzie will team up with four seriously injured servicemen to embark on an epic 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic Ocean in December.

The six man crew will have to cover 50 nautical miles a day, rowing around the clock in two-hour shifts, for at least 60 days. The Row2Recovery team will row from the Canary Islands to Barbados on an inspirational journey that will push them to the limits of physical endurance. Fewer people have rowed the Atlantic than have been into space or climbed Everest.

Why does this matter?

Row2Recovery aims to champion the extraordinary achievements of people with disabilities, and inspire others with life-changing injuries to go beyond injury and achieve the extraordinary. Our aim is to inspire and challenge wounded servicemen and women, and their families, to realise their full potential after injury. We believe the measure of a man is his ability to rise again.

LondonGalaDinner

The fundraising campaign will culminate in an exclusive black tie dinner to wave the boys off in fitting style ahead of their epic journey. The Row2Recovery team will be joined by high profile celebrities, sports stars and supporters in a celebration of this important campaign.

We have selected a spectacular London venue to host the dinner.

Members of the returning England World Cup rugby squad and England’s world No1 ranked cricket team will be in attendance, while television historian Dan Snow will host the evening.

The Row2Recovery crew will also be on hand to share their thoughts just a month before they depart on their epic challenge.
