BLOCK 11. Sew (1) C 6-1/4” x 5-3/4” rectangle and (1) I 6-1/4” x 5-3/4” rectangle together to make the left unit. Sew (1) H 5-1/4” x 4-1/4”rectangle and (1) F 5-1/4” x 7-1/4” rectangle together to make the right unit. Left unit should measure 6-1/4” x 11” including seam allowances. Right unit should mea-sure 5-1/4” X 11”.

2. Measure and mark the the top and bottom edges as indicated below. Draw lines to connect the top and bottom marks. Cut along the lines.

3. Center and sew (1) N 7/8” x 12” strip to the left section of the left unit. Draw a horizontal line to extend the seamline across the added strip.

4. Add the center section of the left unit, matching the seamline to the drawn line.

5. Join (1) M 7/8” x 12” strip and the right section in the same manner.

6. Join (1) O 7/8” x 12” strip to the two sections of the right unit in the same manner.

7. Sew the right and left units together using (1) P 7/8” x 12” strip. Trim the strips even with the top and bottom edges of the block. Trim blocks to 10-1/2” square including seam allowance. Make 4.

QUILT CENTER For following steps refer to Quilt Layout on Page 7.

19. Block Rows: Arrange and sew together (2) of each Block: #1 and #2 and (3) M 1” x 10-1/2”rectangles as shown in Quilt Layout. Make (5) Block Rows.

20. Sashing Row: Take (4) M 1-1/2” x 10-1/2” rectangles and (3) O 1” x 1-1/2” rectangles and sew them together, alternating the pieces as shown in Quilt Layout. Make (4) Sashing Rows.

21. Sew Block Rows and Sashing Rows together matching seams to complete the quilt center.

BORDERS

22. M Border: Sew (1) M 1-1/2” x 54-1/2” border strip to each long side of quilt center. Sew (1) P 1-1/2” square to each end of M 1-1/2” x 42” top and bottom borders. Sew to top and bottom of quilt center.

23. J Border: Sew (1) J 2-3/4” x 56-1/2” border strip to each long side of quilt. Sew (1) J 2-3/4” x 48-1/2” border to top and to bottom of quilt top.

24. Side Patchwork Border: Sew (1) 2” x 61” patchwork border to right and left side of quilt top.

25. T/B Patchwork Border: Sew (1) M 2” square to both ends of M 2” x 48-1/2” top and bottom borders. Sew patchwork border to top and bottom of quilt top.

FINISHING: Layer quilt top, batting and backing together to form quilt sandwich. Baste and quilt as desired. Bind using O 2-1/4” strips.

18. Side Patwork Borders: Sew ends of (3) I and (2) L 2” x 12-5/8” border units together for left border. Sew ends of (2) I and (3) L 2” x 12-5/8” border units together for right border. Borders should measure approximately 2” x 61” including seam allowance. Set aside.
