News Release – For immediate release
SACAJAWEA HOTEL TO HOST 1ST ANNUAL SACAJAWEA SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL
Dates – September 10, 11, 12, 2015
Country Music Fans and Amateur Songwriters should save dates in mid September to enjoy the
collaboration of five famous Nashville singer/songwriters at the Sacajawea Hotel, in Three Forks, MT.
Led by Montana’s own Kostas, the rest of the lineup making the trip to Montana’s Favorite Small Town
includes Even Stevens, Billy Montana, Helen Darling, and Kylie Sackley.
Events will include:
A showcase of personally penned and recorded songs at a sponsors’ gathering on Thursday
evening.
Shows on multiple stages throughout Three Forks on Friday evening, culminating in a talent
filled songwriters’ Jam Session at the Sacajawea Bar.
A songwriters’ clinic on Saturday morning where amateur songwriters can spend some time
with the pros, hone their craft, and learn about the business of songwriting.
A “Montana Idol” competition on Saturday afternoon, where local aspiring singer/songwriters
can play original material and be judged by the Professional Songwriters Panel.
An intimate “Songwriters in the Round” finale to be held in the Sacajawea tent on Saturday
night.
“Having this caliber of songwriters at our first ever event is really going to be spectacular,” said
Sacajawea owner Dean Folkvord. “We attended a similar event in Crested Butte, Colorado last year and
it was incredible. So we’ve been working on this project for quite a while and we’re sure excited about
the folks that have committed to the show. We are going to blow the doors off out here with some fun
music and an opportunity to get to hear the best of these famous songwriters. It’s like – the Bluebird
Café is coming to Montana. We can’t wait!”
At the “American Idol” style event that will be held on Saturday afternoon, amateur songwriters will
perform their best song. Their work will be heard, critiqued and at the end there will be prizes to
whoever can wow the Judges with the best, most recordable song. The top three will perform at the
finale, in the tent, that evening.
The event will be co-sponsored by BMI Nashville and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the
Headwaters Area Food Bank.
