 Commitment and participation has always been a major focus in how they proudly give back to the community

Internet Safety • Children

  20% of teens believe it is safe to share personal information over the internet

  90% of children between the ages of 5-17 use computers

  According to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children an average of 150 children each week fall victim to online predators

• Parents   22% of teenagers have

reported their parents have never discussed internet safety them

  Focusing on educating parents as well as children will encourage preventative measures

Fire Safety • Children

  Children set over 35,000 fires annually

  According to the Fire Safety Administration, toddlers ages 3-4 set a large number of fires in homes by playing with matches

Administration children who are not given proper guidance are more likely to start fires

  Children under the age of five are curious about fire

  Children make up 15-20% of all fire deaths

General Safety • Children

  The number one health risk for children under 14 is injuries

  In 2006, 479 children were kidnapped in Tennessee

  In 2006, almost 900 children were the victims of rape in Tennessee

• Parents   Research has shown that

children are more likely to discuss safety with parents if the parents begin the discussion.

  According to powerofparentsonline.com 52 % of parents want more resources to keep their family safe.

Objectives •  To have 200 parents and children (ages 3-14) attend

the event •  To raise awareness among all participants, generating

excitement among children about safety issues by 50 percent

•  To provide each child attending with an ID me safety card

•  To obtain at least $2000 sponsorship funding, not including free food donations from sponsors
