Through this Offering of Le ers, you can help Congress recognize the poli cal will to set the policies and funding levels that will enable the U.S. government to do its part to improve nutri on and health among mothers and children.
Families are invited to bring their children to the “kids’ table” in Biss Hall where they’ll hear a short story to help them understand the importance of advocacy. We encourage parents to help their children write a le er with their own name and address – Congresspersons are always impressed with le ers from children!

The Kino Border Ini a ve (KBI) is a bina onal organiza on that works in the area of migra on and is located in Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The KBI was inaugurated in Janu-ary of 2009 by six organiza ons from the United States and Mex-ico: The California Province of the Society of Jesus, Jesuit Refu-gee Service/USA, the Missionary Sisters of the Eucharist, the Mexican Province of the Society of Jesus, the Diocese of Tucson and the Archdiocese of Hermosillo. The KBI’s vision is to help make humane, just, workable migra on between the U.S. and Mexico a reality. Its mission is to promote US/Mexico border and immigra on policies that affirm the dignity of the human person and a spirit of bi- na onal solidarity through • Direct humanitarian assistance and accompaniment with
migrants; • Social and pastoral educa on with communi es on both
sides of the border; • Par cipa on in collabora ve networks that engage in re-

Young Girls Thrive in Druid Hills Daisy Troop 487— A report from Joanne Shea, Scout leader. Represen ng Girl Scouts’ youngest age level, Daisies pick their name from founder Julie e Gordon Low’s nickname, “Daisy.” Much of the fun of Girl Scouts is achieving: se ng goals and reaching them. Tradi onal scout troops have scouts' parents as leaders but in areas of need like Druid Hills Academy, a high risk, Title I school, parents do not have the me, means or ability to volunteer as leaders for the scouts. Volunteers from St. Peter Catholic Church fill that need; providing me and talent to our li lest scouts. With support from Sharrone Powell and Natasha Boyd at Druid Hills Academy, our
Daisy Troop 487 meets weekly with girls from the a erschool program. Our ini al troop roster had 8 scouts. A er witnessing the fun our scouts are having, 2 more girls have expressed an interest to join. This year we started with Daisy Scouts at Druid Hills Academy and hope to add Brownies, Juniors, Cade es, Seniors and Ambassadors in the years to come. This program can truly make a difference in these young girls' lives.
Bragg Financial made significant financial contribu ons this year that allowed us to provide an array of ac vi es for our scouts. Every mee ng was carefully cra ed to teach the scouts at an age appropriate level, lessons about the

It’s 6:01pm on Monday and we already know dinner is going to be late – Bill is cooking. However, the aroma from the kitchen – his signature dish, homemade mac and cheese – keeps us content. People chat around the table. Others chop vegetables donated from the local pro-duce market. Someone moves a pile of used coats into the side room to bring to our drop-in center. The door swings open every few minutes and more people join the table. When the food is finally served, we join hands – newborns and old folks, teachers and welders, architects and the unemployed, students and human rights advocates, Ethiopian and German, and everyone in between – for prayer. It’s dinner me at the Cleveland Catholic Worker. For Informa on see h p://www.catholicworker.org/history.html This is where I eat every night, with people who are commi ed to radical hospitality to those on the margins. For our community in Cleveland, that means folks who struggle with mental illness or are homeless. While the rest of the world seems to move towards division and hierarchy, our community strives to challenge that no on through one daily act: dinner. All are welcome at this rag tag table. And every spot is equal. Jesus shares this vision of equality with us in today’s gospel. Though some lord their authority over others, he says, “It shall not be so among you.” Our faith calls us to a new kind of rela onship. I catch a glimpse of Jesus’s vision at dinner me. Reflec on ques ons: Can I be a en ve to the moments when God calls me into just and equal rela onships with others? Can I ask God for the grace to serve and not be served? St. Peter we live Radical Hospitality every Tuesday night from December to April with our neighbors from Room In The Inn. If you would like to be part of this ministry, come by the Outreach table at our Time & Talent Fair and /or list it on your Time & Talent Commitment Form.

world and their value in this world. When we learn the GS Law, we are Courageous and strong. As a Daisy, girls earn petals as awards that represent good behavior learned from the Girl Scout Promise and Law. We believe these are the stepping stones needed to develop and grow strong leaders in today's society.
Troop 487 currently has 3 co-leaders, with a combined total of more than 50 years experience as scouts and leaders. Hornets Nest Girl Scouts Council requires and provides training for leaders. All have been ve ed through St. Peter and CMS Volunteer Programs. Druid Hills Academy provides space and helps reach out to parents, Bragg Financial provided a start up grant for our first year, GSHNC provided vests and books for our scouts through financial need grants and Druid Hills Partnership with St. Peters has provided volunteers and resources we plan to use as we grow. Without the support of this team, we would not be able to provide this opportunity to the young girls of Druid Hills Academy.
