launch of its latest collection, Prima Alpaca Maras, which is inspired by the elemental

pigments and gem-like textures of Peru’s sacred Salinas de Maras, a network of nearly

3,000 salt pans terraced across the sky-kissed slopes of the Andes Mountains. Fed

from the mineral traces of a prehistoric sea

and harvested by hand through the centuries,

the precious salts of the Salinas de Maras

long-ago provided currency for the pre-Incan

world. Today, the crystalline fissures and liquid

radiance of the Salinas de Maras are celebrated

in this sweeping new collection that includes

19 new fabrics ranging from luminous sheers

and elegant bouclés to shimmering sateens.

Colorways range from a marine green and the purest of whites to natural shades that

reflect the light and landscape of this extraordinary earthly wonder. Like all Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca offerings, the fabrics of the Prima Alpaca Maras collection drape exquisitely, are durable and do not fade. Involving intense handwork, the process of manufacturing these fabrics is earth-friendly. The cycle of herding, sheering and refining alpaca fleece gives careful consideration to the environment. In addition to fostering this traditional Peruvian industry, Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca also partners with local Andean organizations to support education and housing for herding families who have tended their remote ancestral lands for generations.
