Career and College Pathfinder: The Career Resource Center

The Santa Fe College Career Resource Center (CRC) provides information and guidance for career and life planning. Through computerized assessment of your skills, interests, personality and other relevant factors, the CRC can help you choose a major and navigate your career path. The CRC can also help you locate scholarship opportunities.

The CRC offers Pathfinder Workshops, which are geared toward students who are undecided on their program of study and/or unsure of their

career goals. The workshop will introduce you to the best resources for researching possible career paths and planning effectively to achieve your goals. In order to best serve you, the CRC works closely with other SF departments such as the Counseling Center, Career and Job Placement, and Student Development Instruction.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Santa Fe College offers more than 80 CTE programs that include vocational certificates, and associate and bachelor’s degrees. CTE programs are designed to prepare students for fast-growing career fields with high earning potential in areas such as health sciences, construction, digital media, education and more. Most CTE programs range from six months to two years to complete.

We Can Help You: The Counseling Center

The Santa Fe College Counseling Center is here to help you with any problems you might encounter during your time at SF, such as depression, test anxiety, relationship conflicts or lack of motivation. The Counseling Center provides free career, academic and personal counseling, as well as crisis intervention, outreach and consultation. Counselors can also refer you to other services in the college and in the community that may be helpful.

The Counseling Center offers over 50 workshops per year, on topics ranging

from meditation to healthy relationships to reducing test anxiety. The center also puts on a variety of campus events, like Safe Spring Break and Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Equal Access for All: Disabilities Resource Center

Students with disabilities are provided equal access to the college’s facilities and academic programs. The Disabilities Resource Center (DRC) offers a variety of services and accommodations at no charge to SF students with disabilities who have registered with the center. Accommodations and services DRC provides may include extended testing time, adaptive equipment, alternative format course materials, elevator malfunction notification, and advocacy and support.

Some of the most common disability populations that DRC serves include ADHD, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, depression, PTSD, autism, epilepsy, and speech, hearing and visual impairment. DRC also provides support services for students with temporarily limiting conditions such as a broken arm.

Money Matters: Financial Aid

The Financial Aid office at Santa Fe College offers many services to students, including help with filing your FAFSA to obtain federal loans or grants. The Financial Aid office also promotes Financial Aid TV, which provides 24/7 access to short videos that discuss important financial aid topics such as applying for financial aid, eligibility, types of aid available, Florida Bright Futures, and tax benefits and credits.

On the Financial Aid website you will find many helpful tools, including a net

price calculator which will give you an idea of your overall college expenses, and financial literacy tools that will help you define your finances and stay on track toward financial success.

SF Honor student Christian Keen is recognized as one of only 20 college students in the United States to be selected as a member of the 2014 All-USA Community College Academic Team by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Experience the Honors Difference: The Honors Program

The Honors Program at Santa Fe College promotes academic excellence in SF’s brightest and most motivated students. The Honors Program is a community of students and faculty brought together by a mutual love of learning, and offers innovative, learner-centered classes taught by college faculty recognized for their exceptional teaching skills and ability to foster academic growth. Some benefits of being part of the honors program include smaller classes, opportunities for scholarships and travel, and accolades at graduation.

SF Honors students have a history of being high achievers at their transfer institutions as well. Historically, 90 percent of Honors Program graduates have enrolled at the University of Florida. Other graduates have enrolled Stanford University, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Southern California, New College of Florida, and the Honors College of Florida Atlantic University.

Study the World: International Education

International Studies at Santa Fe College will assist you in gaining a fun and rewarding international experience. You can participate in programs that are offered all over the world and earn credit while in another country on a program led by SF faculty during the summer or Spring Break. Study abroad opportunities include countries like China, Ecuador, Italy, Sweden and France.

You might also consider doing an internship abroad that could transfer as experiential learning credit, or doing

an individual study while abroad. International Studies staff can direct you to funding sources, explain how you can earn credit in another country, and give other support.

Courses for Academic and Professional Success: Student Development Instruction

The department of Student Development Instruction (SDI) offers elective credit courses in leadership, academic success, and self-management. The skills you learn in these courses can help increase your GPA, enhance your ability to find and maintain a job, and develop your personal strengths and leadership style.

SDI has a variety of courses to choose from, including College Success, Introduction to Leadership, Personal Leadership, Leadership Development Studies, Life and Career Development,

and Living Effectively. These courses have no prerequisites and focus on areas that contribute to your academic accomplishment, enlightened life and career choices, and leadership competencies. As you master critical thinking, interpersonal and academic skills, you will be on your way toward achieving your educational, personal and career goals.

Student Life is committed to creating and supporting opportunities for involvement, leadership and service on campus and in the community. We have 60+ organizations that you can join, including academic, athletic, cultural, fine arts, political, religious, service and social organizations. If you don’t see something you like, no problem, you can start your own!

Student Life hosts hundreds of cultural, wellness and engagement-oriented events that are free to all SF students. Other services we provide

include student healthcare and legal services, carpool registration and calculator loans. Come see us in Building S to get your SFID Card, hang out in the Rec Room, or use the computer lab.

Dedicated to serving those who served and who continue to serve our nation, we are committed to the academic success of all campus Veterans, active duty service members, and eligible dependents.

The office of Veterans & Military Success Services (VMSS) assists by answering questions concerning G. I. Bill benefits, certifying enrollments for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and informing students of available supportive resources. Some of these

resources include, but are not limited to tutoring, outreach, advocacy and advising from our Vet Success on Campus Counselor (VSOC).
