Dear Parents, Thank you for your participation and involvement with Santa Monica Montessori School. We have enjoyed having you and your children with us during this wonder-ful school year. The 2015-16 yearbook will be available during the last week of school, June 13 through June 17. Please take a moment to look through it as a reminder of all our exciting school events and everyday school life.
We want to thank all the parents that supported our recent Mrs. Nelson’s book fair. It was a great success, raising enough funds to supply each classroom with all the books the teachers had picked out. We would also like to thank all parents that came to support the history re-enactment performed by Rooms 6 and 7.
This summer we will be having a great time as we swim, work, and play. We are adding academic Kindergarten, along with a new Elementary Music Program to our camp activities which we will carry forward into the new school year. We all look forward to welcoming you back for the 2016-2017 School Year! Have a wonderful summer. Regards, Pam Crisman

Development
We are working tirelessly to re-
new and improve SMMS. In the
beginning of the school year,
the outside of the school build-
ing was painted. As you may
have noticed, the inside recently
followed, with a new coat of
paint in the hallways and bath-
rooms. We have also had the
soap and paper towel dispens-
ers replaced in the entire
school. In the coming months,
we are going to continue with
some more exciting projects.
Please note that Choice Lunch
will not be providing lunches dur-
ing the summer. Please send a
lunch for your child if they are
attending summer camp.

Our upper elementary class had a wonderful field trip to El Capitan Canyon. We swam at the beach, fed goats and
llamas, and made s’mores by the campfire! Our art fair was also a success, and we finally had the opportunity to
share with all of you our students’ beautiful work. As the school year is ending, we will enjoy a few more units of
study, including lessons in ecology and the work of water. During the last week of school, we will enjoy a ride to
the beach on the new Expo line, ride bikes towards Malibu, and partake in a lovely day hike at Will Rogers State
Park.

Hard to believe it is already the end of
the school year! Thank you for coming
to the Art Fair to see what we have
been working on all year. In the month
of June, we will be celebrating Father's
Day on the 17th! Don't forget to enroll
for the summer if you want to partici-
pate in our exciting summer program.
For those of you taking the summer
off, have a great summer!
Room 2
The children in Room 2 have
been conscientious workers and
sensorial explorers, sensitive to
order and language acquisition,
and seeking independence and
mastery. We are about to finish
the school year. Thank you for
allowing us to be part of your
child's life. We have had a won-
derful year together.
We will wrap up this final month of
the school year with some long-
term projects. These projects will
tie together the skills and interests
the students have gathered
throughout the year. Children will
be working on and researching
different forest biomes, which will
then be executed as shoebox dio-
ramas in small groups.
The children were very proud to
show off their artwork, and had a
great time on our science-based
hike through the Santa Monica
Mountains. Now we are excited for
our casual family trip to the beach
during the last week of school!

Thank you for all your support during
Career Month! We are already in our
last month of school and are getting
ready to celebrate Father's Day with a
BBQ on the Last day of school, Friday,
June 17. We have a great Summer
program planned and are looking for-
ward to seeing those of you that will
be joining us. During the month of
June, we will be learning the parts of
the flower and leaf. We wish all of
you and your families a great sum-
mer!
Even though the school year is al-
most over, this is an active time of
the year for Room 5. Just when the
students thought they had done
everything there was to do with the
materials, we are discovering new
ways to use multiple materials at
the same time! Stop and ask to see
examples, we will proudly share our
pictures.
We would also like to remind our
girls to wear shorts under dresses.
Please wear closed-toed shoes in-
stead of sandals.
Thank you all for attending the Art
Fair/Music Concert! Our little art-
ists enjoyed presenting their mas-
terpieces. We would also like to
thank you all for supporting your
children in their learning process.
We have had very successful
school year! Have a wonderful
summer!
