• A reduction in fees for ESTIV membership (18 Euros instead of 30 Euros)

• Visibility (via web link) through the ESTIV website, its Newsletter, and the ESTIV Workshops (INVITOX)

• Co-ordinated activities and organized meetings between all affiliated societies to promote in vitro toxicology within governments, societies, universities and businesses

• Increased visibility and the strengthening of links with other affiliated societies across Europe

• Continuous recognition and association with an influential society, scientists and professionals involved in the in vitro toxicology field

Animal research is a widespread method in science and education

The concept of animal in the twenty-first century no longercorresponds to the history of science in the past.

Today it is known that animals sounds beings endowed withconsciousness and complex psychological and cognitive point ofview.

Ethical reflection are fundamental to consider new ways of doingresearch in a more humane way.

View

We know that just like the animal, alternative methods havelimitations of various natures. So it takes a constant improvement.

We emphasize the importance of validation of alternative methodsthrough internationally accepted procedures.

In this case, for example, cooperation between ECVAM andBraCVAM is critical.

National authorities must accept alternative methods and adaptthe laws to these concepts related to the 3Rs.

View

We need to increase the discussions of these concepts into thegraduate and post-graduate courses, in order to have an effective"Science Education" where every new scientist will have this culturein his DNA.

There is a social, scientific, regulatory and ethics demands thatmust be considered in order to develop a high technologicaladvances and also more humanized.

SBMAlt comes encourage and contribute to the development ofalternative methods in Brazil, through training and updating ofprofessionals and serving as an interface between theseprofessionals and industries, academia, government and relatedentities.
