What will be your front cover story and how will you visualise this? The front cover story will be about the stresses of sixth form, whether it is for year 12 who have just begun and don’t know how to

deal with the work load yet or for year 13’s who are dealing with stresses of exams and university deadlines. I think that the main focus will be on how to get ahead of your deadlines and create a schedule so that you wouldn’t become too stressed out. The main headline could be about how ‘stress is due’, and could be visualised in stamp form, almost like the deadline stamps for any work. The main story can be visualised on the front cover by showing one of the students stressed out with masses of school work surrounding them suggesting that they are trapped within the workload.

FRONT COVER

What mise en scene will be

required for the photo?

For the front cover, I think that I will take a close up shot of the student, but so that the books would be visible in the background as well to give a studious environment. I will probably take the picture in a mid shot as well so that the target audience would be able to concentrate on the students expression rather than anything else around them.

What sort of shot will it be?

To make the main headline relate to the purpose of the school magazine, I think that I will have to take the photo at a key area of study (classroom, library or the study area) with the student in uniform to show that they are set in a right frame of mind. Otherwise I think I will make the lighting quite dark on the face to show that stress can cause depression, yet with tips from the magazine you can overcome it.

What will be your headline?I think that the main headline of the magazine may be

something like ‘stress due: how to overcome it’ that would be visualised in stamp form. This would almost resemble the

stamps you get when certain work or books are due. This would link straight back to the main image where the props

can signify the workload and the student can have a stressed expression.

Who is the target audience? The target audience for my magazine would preferably be students, of around the ages of 16-18 that are currently studying in college. I would aim the magazine at students who feel like they may need some sort of guidance in regards to coursework, exams, universities or simply revision. I will not concentrate on a area of interest as it would be mainly based on school work and problems.

What is the name of your magazine? What are the connotations?I think that the name for my school magazine will probably be ‘Countdown’. This is because of the various connotations you can get through the main title. The connotations could be that time is running out for us as students in college as we will soon begin the next chapter of our lives, whether it will be higher education or work. Perhaps the title could be linked to the upcoming exams and coursework deadlines. So the main purpose of the magazine would be how to deal with all of these stresses as time is counting down.

What colour scheme do you want and why?I’m not quite sure in regards to the colour scheme for the magazine. This is because

there are a variety of connotations that you could have for the magazine that would link right back to the colouring. For example, I could use bright multi colours, to show that all the stresses can be overcome (pot of gold at the end of the rainbow) by following the tips within the magazine which would give a more positive connotation overall. Or I could use colours specific to the uniform code in sixth form, of course this would make it much more personal to the sixth form but also much more dull, just how the work load may seem...
