Nottingham Forest Ladies FC have re-organised their structure at the Club's AGM.Elected Chairperson PJ Andrews is no stranger to the club after being involved up to2008, when she took a break due to family commitments, and is keen to help shore upthe club's status. PJ said: "It's well documented that the club is going through a periodof transition due to an unsuccessful Women's Super League bid and the subsequentwithdrawal of support from NFFC. The impact has been significant both financially and on morale but after anumber of meetings and full consultation, the will to work from all managers, staff andplayers across all teams has been the inspiration to continue. The club has acommitment to nine teams and a community project for this season and the priority isstill to secure funding for their support. "Due to resignations from the previous committee, it was important to haveexperienced people in positions that will benefit immediately. We have nine people onthe committee now as opposed to five, plus all the managers and coaching staff, and Iwant to encourage more involvement rather than less. The spirit is tight and we aregetting to fully understand our areas of expertise. "Ultimately we are working on the urgent short term strategy but have to lookat enhancing the resource and building more positive relations with longer term partnersto ensure longevity.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1 Portsmouth 2Portsmouth took the points in a south coast derby with a 2-1victory at the Withdean Stadium home of Brighton & HoveAlbion. After falling behind early on, Pompey hit back with twoexcellent finishes in an even first period. The Seagullsbombarded the visitors goal for virtually the entire second halfbut were frustrated by a combination of outstandinggoalkeeping from Sadie Blakely, the woodwork twice andbrave defending by the Pompey back four. Brighton had three players making their debuts andtwo were quick to make their mark. Toni-Anne Wayne wasbusy in goal as Pompey started the brighter but it was MollieKmita who stole the honours with a neat finish at the far postto give Albion the lead on seven minutes. Albion then hadclaims for a penalty when Blakely challenged Kate Natkiel fora loose ball in the area but nothing was given. Leeta Rutherford had aleady gone very close for Pompey and despite a nasty collision witha post in the attempt, she was soon back, notching the equaliser with a fine 30-yard effort whichdipped over Wayne on 13 minutes. Both teams looked capable of scoring as play switched quickly in an exciting opening period.Sophie Perry had a shot blocked for a corner by Lauren Murphy and the hosts threatened from bothwings. However it was Portsmouth who made the breakthrough via a deep Jess Frampton crossfrom close to the corner flag which was met by a well controlled header from Lucy Quinn backacross goal on 20 minutes. Rutherford nearly extended the lead after winning possession from an Albion short goal kick, but her lob cleared the bar. Quinn had two free kicks fom distance both held by Wayne asPortsmouth headed to the break with the advantage. The visitors went close again on the restart as a cross flew through the six yard box and aneffort from the resulting corner was cleared off the line on 49 minutes. That was virtually the lastthreat posed by Pompey despite Charley Wilson and Gemma Hillier's tireless efforts to occupy theBrighton defence. Play was concentrated increasingly in front of Blakely's goal as both teams rangthe changes in personnel. Natkiel was becoming more influential on the right, racing clear to draw a good block by thePompey keeper on 66 minutes. Long range efforts from the hosts were generally off target and itwas from crosses that most danger arrived. Rebecca Thompson-Agbro had a powerful headersaved by Blakely's tip onto the post whilst Murphy made a goal saving block from a close range drivefrom a left wing cross. Sub Charlotte Owen went very close from 20 yards on 78 minutes as Albiondominated. As the game moved into its final minutes, Albion did everything but equalise. A long rangeNatkiel free kick flew low across goal and away to safety from the upright only to be returned high, forcing Murphy into a headed clearance which was acrobatically tipped away as it looped intoBlakely's goal for a match winning save on 89 minutes. Portsmouth's defence, marshalled by Murphy and the experience of Fiona McMillan whogave an outstanding display after recently returning from two seasons absence through injury, heldout well against a Brighton team who had performed with great energy and attacking intent but justcould not find the finish to match their approach play.Brighton & Hove Albion: Toni-Anne Wayne, Mollie Kmita, Sophie Perry, Kirsty Barton, ReneeHector, Rebecca Thompson-Agbro, Yasmin Poole, Lily Agg, Kate Natkiel, Rosie Kmita, TammyWaine. Wolverhampton Wanderers' victory against Studley in theBirmingham County Cup may not have been their mostimportant match of the season, but for one member oftheir squad, it was one of the most significant matches ofher career. Becky Hall made her competitive comebackafter having been out with a serious knee injury since theend of last season. The former England Under-23international appeared for the last twenty minutes in thewin over Studley in the centre of midfield (pictured) andshe told Women's Soccer Scene about her frustrationswhilst out injured and fears over whether she would everplay again. "The last few months have been really toughmentally," admitted Becky. "It's been hard watching fromthe stand, although I have tried to keep myself busyhelping the people behind the scenes with the tea makingand stadium announcing! "When I initially injured my knee, I wasn't evensure what I had done, which was probably the most frustrating thing. I had my operation inOctober where the surgeon effectively told me I would struggle to ever play again, which onlymade me more determined to get back. "I've trained twice with the team and managed to get a twenty minute run out in theCounty Cup and I was absolutely buzzing [afterwards]. I am nowhere near ready forcompetitive league action as my knee still can't quite withstand high intensity pressure but I amhopeful that in the new year I will be back and giving my all for Wolves." To make matters worse, Wolves are currently at the foot of the Northern Division andhave sorely missed the 25-year-old, who has played in the FA WSL for Doncaster RoversBelles as well as Lichfield Diamonds and Birmingham City. Although she has only just set footback on the pitch, Becky revealed that she was kicking every ball during Wolves' recent 5-2league victory over Newcastle Utd. "I followed the Newcastle game on our club's twitter account and until we had atwo-goal cushion, I couldn't stop refreshing my twitter timeline!" she laughed. "It's even more stressful watching than it is playing. It was a fantastic result for us andhopefully that will act as a catalyst to go on for the rest of the season. We are a much betterteam than our league position suggests."

Scotland's venture in the four team Brazilian tournament has ended inthree narrow defeats, two of them against top ten ranked countries. Anna Signeul's side went into the tournament on the back offour straight Women's World Cup qualifying victories but in their firstmatch against Canada, they were without first choice centraldefenders Jennifer Beattie and Rachel Corsie, meaning that FrankieBrown had to slot into the centre alongside Eilish McSorley. Adriana Leon put Canada ahead within six minutes, butScotland captain Gemma Fay prevented Christine Sinclair fromextending the lead when she saved her penalty at the end of the first half. However theCanada captain - and all time leading goalscorer - was not to be denied, and marked her200th appearance for her country with a second half strike to seal a 2-0 victory for her side. Next up for Scotland were tournament hosts Brazil and they were boosted by thearrival of Glasgow City captain Corsie in the starting line up. Leanne Crichton and ChristieMurray were also introduced with McSorley, Emma Mitchell and Leanne Ross making way. Brazil enjoyed the bulk of the possession and Marta forced a corner in the openingminutes but Debinha couldn't get a shot away. Scotland were beginning to settle and seemore of the ball, just as Brazil scored the opening goal. Cristiane picked out Marta, whoraced clear of the Scotland defence and sent a low shot past Gemma Fay on 26 minutes. Brazil's taliswoman then turned provider, whipping a cross into the Scotland area, where Debinha was lurking to prod the ball home from close range. Debinha caught Scotland off guard to grab her second goal after the break. Shelatched onto a long ball out of defence and raced into the area to lift the ball over Fay. Scotland increased their possession and it paid off as they pulled one back in somestyle. Andreia Suntaque blocked Leanne Crichton's effort and the ball found its way toHayley Lauder who took a touch on the edge of the area and curled a terrific strike into thetop corner. Scotland continued to press forward with Jane Ross twice going close but theycould not make another breakthrough and Brazil ran out 3-1 winners. The final group match was against Chile and Scotland were unlucky to come out onthe wrong end of a seven-goal thriller. This time Jennifer Beattie had joined up with thesquad after club commitments with Montpellier and she returned to the defence withShannon Lynn taking over from Gemma Fay in goal. Leanne Ross made her 100thappearance for her country. Both sides traded chances early on but it was Chile who tok the lead on the twentyminute mark. Maria Rojas got on the end of a defence splitting ball out of midfield and racedclear to send a low shot past Lynn. Scotland were level within three minutes though. Kim Little went on a marauding rundown the right and crossed for Jane Ross, who beat her marker to flick the ball high into thenet. Christie Murray put Scotland ahead with five minutes left in the half. Hayley Laudersent in an inch perfect pass from the halfway line and Murray got in front of her marker toscore.

Play went from end to end in the second half but it was Chile who struck next.Francisca was first to react when a free kick was whipped into the area, flicking the ball intothe net. Chile then raced into the lead with two goals in four minutes. Araya got on the end ofa cross into the area to fire into the net, before Saez blasted in a shot from close range. Both sides continued to create opportunities, before another Scotland substitutescored the last goal of the game. With eight minutes remaining, Sarah Crilly picked up theball on the edge of the area and unleashed a terrific effort to beat Endler.

Mossley Hill have taken the Northern Combination by storm inrecent weeks with an excellent run which has taken them fromthe lower half to the summit, where they currently lead the tableby three points following their 4-2 victory over Middlesbrough. Kaisha Sohl was one of the goalscorers in the winagainst 'Boro and she told Women's Soccer Scene about theconfidence flowing through the squad and how she believes theMerseyside-based team can go all the way and win the league:Were you pleased with the team’s performance in beatingMiddlesbrough on Sunday?I was pleased with our win against Middlesbrough on Sunday, the pitch wasn't the best due to the weather and it could havebeen a bit scrappy at times, however we fought for the whole90 minutes and came out with the result we wanted and needed. Was it ample revenge for your defeat by ‘Boro a couple ofmonths ago? When we played Middlesbrough away a few months ago we were beaten by a goal scored bythem in the last minute, which was unlucky. We played really well in that game and deserved toget something from it so it was frustrating when they scored with less than a minute to go. We weredefinitely out on Sunday to get the three points, the same as we are every week. The win against Middlesbrough was your tenth in thirteen matches, how high is theconfidence within the team now?The confidence within the team now is very high as we are doing really well this season and havebeen top of the league for the past few weeks now. We've been playing some good football andwe definitely want to stay up there for the rest of the season. Is there genuine belief amongst the team that you are capable of winning the league?I think we are capable of winning the league this season, I think all the girls believe we can too. Ifwe carry on playing the way we are then I think we are well in with a chance. Was there a particular result or performance that convinced you that you could be amongstthe challengers? We have come away with some good results against the top teams in our league, which has beenvery good for our confidence. I think with the way we began playing and the results we got at thestart of the season made us believe we are good enough to be amongst the challengers. There are still a number of teams in with a chance of the title, who do you think is mostlikely to stay in the running?I think the team most likely to stay in the running is Chorley. They were consistent last season andthey have been this season also. They are a good team with a strong side and I think they arelikely to stay near the top this season. This week you travel to Chester-le-Street, who beat you earlier in the season. Do you seethis match as another big test of your title credentials? We never underestimate any team in the league - I think every team we come up against is amassive test. We didn't feel we were at our strongest when we played Chester-le-Street earlierthis season and that result doesn't reflect how we've been playing since. It will be a test on Sundaybut so is every game. What would it mean to you and the club if you can win the league this season?I think it would mean a lot to me, the girls and the club if we were to win the league this season. It's our first year under the new management and new players coming into the team so it wouldprove that the changes made have been positive. It would show that the hard work everyone hasput in all season has paid off as we have pulled together as a team this season and it's showingwith the way we are playing.

Cheltenham Town Ladies Football Club have come up with an unusual butinnovative way of finding a new kit sponsor for their team. It may sound like an unlikely combination – a women’s football team and acampaign to remove naked photos from page 3 of a national newspaper, but theSouth West League side are determined to make this the outcome. The Olympics were a huge event for British sport and many women tookcentre stage with inspiring performances. It was during this time that Lucy AnnHolmes noticed that the biggest image of a female in The Sun newspaper was thetopless girl on page 3 rather than any of our winning female athletes – and this wason the day that Jessica Ennis had just won gold! Lucy set up the No More Page 3 campaign soon after, asking the Sun tovoluntarily drop this old fashioned institution because ‘boobs aren’t news’. So far126,000 people have signed their petition and their t-shirts with their striking logo arefamous, being worn by celebrities and even by an MP in the House of Commons. Cheltenham's aim is for this logo to be on their kit and for No More Page 3to be the sponsors of their club. To make their partnership with No More Page 3possible, they will need to help them raise enough money to pay for a new kit for theteam and to emblazon the No More Page 3 logo on the front of their shirts – the costprice of this is £2,025 and there’s a web page to make donations athttps://www.justgiving.com/local/project/nomorepage3CTLFC. The campaign has caught the attention of both local and national media andthey have already reached their funding target - and then some more! With threeweeks left to go, they have raised in excess of £8,500 and the figure is growing allthe time. Joanne Lenton, who captains the club's Development team, said: "If just 200people give us £10 each, we can achieve our goal and the campaign logo will travelwith us all across the South West of the country every match day. Through this wehope to highlight the work of No More Page 3 and show our support for their goal. "Sometimes to change attitudes you just have to do something differentwhich is what this would be. Many clubs are sponsored by their local plumber orbuilding company and whilst there is nothing wrong with this we want to do more. Wewant to be sponsored by a message and show everyone that by working togetherwith active sportswomen like us, and our supporters, campaigns such as this canreally work.”

This will be the last issue published ahead ofthe holiday break.

Colin to assist at CountyNotts County Ladies Football Club are pleased to have secured the services of Colin Walker. Colin willbe joining the club as manager Rick Passmoor’s assistant. Colin and Rick have both worked in football for a considerable time, first meeting when Colinmanaged Rick in his playing days as a centre half. The pair have worked in similar roles ever since,Colin helping out Rick last season with Lincoln Ladies, but only on a part time basis. Colin’s experiences spans over more than three decades of playing and coaching, becomingnot only an international defender, but a well respected coach within both the male and female games. The prospect to join Rick at Notts County was one Colin jumped at. "I’ve coached all my life andwhen Rick offered me the opportunity to come and join him it was just too good of an opportunity toturn down,” he said. Colin has a long history in football, both playing and coaching, and brings with him anoutstanding knowledge of the game. A knowledge which manager Rick does not underestimate:“Colin’s knowledge of the game is not just outstanding, but impressive. His input will contribute a hugeamount to this football club.” Colin Walker made many appearances in his playing career, both domestically andinternationally, appearing for the New Zealand national team. Domestically, he also played for anumber of top clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster. Colin’s coaching career has been just as fruitful as his playing career, taking up many roles atBarnsley, including coaching the first team, as well as the centre of excellence at Doncaster and theacclaimed youth academy at Leeds United. He is not only well versed in the male game but also thefemale game, mainly with Leeds United, but more recently Colin assisted Rick at Lincoln Ladies lastseason. "Last year, when I helped out at Lincoln, it could be quite frustrating as it was hard to get theteam altogether at once, with the team being part time. Now at Notts with their full time set up it’s agreat opportunity to develop the squad. “We’ll get to work day by day with the team, and this is valuable. I’ve known Rick a long timeand I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work with him again.” The partnership is something Rick Passmoor is also looking forward to, saying: "Colin was a wellestablished and respected player, and is now an equally well established and respected coach withinthe game, in both male and female football. His work last year with Lincoln was very helpful, but to havehim on board full time with Notts is massive for us and I can't wait to get going."

The 16-19 age group is a specific target for Oxfordshire FA and we are delighted to be part ofthis Futsal Festival which aimed to increase participation in female football. This particular festival was run by students from Oxford and Cherwell Valley College plannedand delivered a successful event. When speaking with the main organisers of the event, Louis andJack, they stated that their main objective was to raise awareness of the female game across SixthForms and Colleges. “We stumbled across a few issues with teams dropping out but we were happywith the number of teams overall. It would be great to see so many females taking part and we wouldlove to run one again and get more teams involved.” This kind of event helps raise awareness of the game in a fun and friendly environment. Thefestival is aimed at providing recreational, social, fun activity for students in Further Education.

The tournament was set out in a league format with the top two teams playing in a closecontested final.
