Scouts, Soldiers, and Stewards: Civil War Encampment for Boy Scouts WHO: Boy Scouts interested in earning their American Heritage Merit Badge WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, September 10 & 11, 2011 WHERE: James A. Garfield National Historic Site, home of the 20 th President and a national park located at 8095 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio. Step back in time to camp with Civil War soldiers at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site! This new program invites Boy Scouts to engage in hands-on activities geared towards the American Heritage Badge requirements while interacting with Civil War reenactors and park rangers from the National Park Service. Scouts participating in this program will also earn a Scout Ranger patch. This encampment is limited to 50 scouts on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each Troop, Pack or Den is responsible for registering for this event through James A. Garfield National Historic Site and completing whatever paperwork is required from the Boy Scouts of America. Deadline for Registration is September 1, 2011. Please contact Park Ranger Allison Powell at 440-255-8722 or [email protected] for more details and registration forms. No walk-ons will be permitted registration is required.
