From the Mixed Sealife - Blue (J), cut:• (2) 5 ½” x 60 ½” LOF strips.• (2) 5 ½” x 56 ½” WOF strips from the remaining fabric, piece as needed.

From the Scroll - Blue (K), cut:• (7) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

From the Tonal Seaweed - Light Blue (Backing), cut:• (2) 78” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 64” x 78” back.

Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2” x 11 ½” Fabric E strips to each side of (1) 31” x 11 ½” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 34” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 32 ½” x 12 ½” to make (1) Block One rectangle (Fig. 1).

3. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 9” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 11 ½” x 9” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 3” x 13 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to make (1) Unit 1 block (Fig. 3).

4. Sew (3) 2 ½” Fabric D squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric B squares together, alternating them. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Unit 1 block to make (1) Block Three rectangle (Fig. 4). Pay attention to the orientation of the strips.

5. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 11 ¼” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 11 ½” x 11 ¼” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 13 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to make (1) Unit 2 block (Fig. 5).

6. Sew (3) 2 ½” Fabric D squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric B squares together, alternating them. Sew the new strip to the right side of the Unit 2 block to make (1) Block Four rectangle (Fig. 6). Pay attention to the orientation of the strips.

7. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 10” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 11 ½” x 10” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 13 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to make (1) Unit 3 block (Fig. 7).

8. Sew (3) 2 ½” Fabric B squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric D squares together, alternating them. Sew the new strip to the left side of the Unit 3 block to make (1) Block Five rectangle (Fig. 8). Pay attention to the orientation of the strips.

9. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric B strip. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric B strip to make (1) Unit 4 block (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (3) Unit 4 blocks total.

10. Sew (3) 2 ½” Fabric B squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric D squares together, alternating them. Sew the new strip to the bottom of (1) Unit 4 block (Fig. 10). Pay attention to the orientation of the strip.

11. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace the listed number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8” outside the drawn lines.

12. Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines.

13. Refer to the Figure 10 to arrange and press (1) Fabric C medium star and (1) Fabric D large star onto the Unit 4 block from Step 10.

14. Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch to make (1) Block Six square.

15. Repeat Steps 10, 13-14 and refer to Figures 11-12 for component identification, placement and orientation to make (1) Block Seven square and (1) Block eight square.

16. Place (1) 2” Fabric E square on the top left corner of (1) 4 ½” Fabric I square, right sides together (Fig. 13). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 13). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 14). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

19. Repeat Steps 16-17 and refer to Figures 17-18 for fabric identification, placement and seam direction to make (2) Unit 6 squares and (4) Unit 7 squares.

17. Follow Figure 15 for the seam direction to add a 2” Fabric E square to each of the remaining corners of the 4 ½” Fabric I square to make (1) Unit 5 square (Fig. 16).

18. Repeat Steps 16-17 to make (6) Unit 5 squares total.

20. Sew (1) Unit 5 block to the top and to the bottom (1) Unit 6 block to make (1) Block Nine strip (Fig. 19). Repeat to make a second Block Nine strip.

21. Sew (1) Unit 7 block to the top and to the bottom of the (1) Unit 5 block to make (1) Unit 8 strip (Fig. 20). Repeat to make a second Unit 8 strip.

22. Repeat Steps 13-14 and sew (2) Fabric D small stars and (1) Fabric G small star onto (1) 4 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric B strip to make (1) Unit 9 strip.

23. Sew (1) Unit 9 strip to the right side of (1) Unit 8 strip. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the sewn strip to make (1) Block Ten rectangle (Fig. 22).

24. Sew (1) Unit 9 strip to the left side of (1) Unit 8 strip. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the sewn strip to make (1) Block Eleven rectangle (Fig. 23).

25. Sew (15) 2 ½” Fabric B squares and (14) 2 ½” Fabric D squares together, alternating them, to make the Left Side Pieced Border (Fig. 24 below).

26. Sew (15) 2 ½” Fabric D squares and (14) 2 ½” Fabric B squares together, alternating them, to make the Right Side Pieced Border (Fig. 25 below).

27. Sew (10) 2 ½” Fabric D squares and (10) 2 ½” Fabric B squares together, alternating them, to make (1) Sashing Strip (Fig. 26 below). Repeat to make (4) Sashing Strips total.

31. Sew the Block Ten rectangle to the left side of the Block Two rectangle. Sew the Block Eleven rectangle to the right side of the Block Two rectangle. Sew (1) Sashing Strip to the top and to the bottom of the sewn strip to make Row Four.

32. Sew the (4) rows together in numerical order to make the Center Block.

33. Sew the Left and Right Pieced Side Borders onto the Center Block.

34. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 58 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 46 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

35. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 60 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 56 ½” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

36. Layer and quilt as desired.

37. Sew the (7) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric K strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

38. Bind as desired.
