Lesson Objectives

• Learn how to navigate and use the Home screen containing all of the search options (Student, Intervention, and Assessment)

• Learn how to navigate and use the Student Roadmap

Navigation

Log in to DataMap. When you log in, the Home screen displays. You can

run three different types of searches from this screen: Student Search,

Intervention Search, or Assessment Search. Searches let you to find

and select students to add to interventions and objectives, view their

assessment data, view their demographic information, and more.

Student Search

In the Student Search area of the Home screen, you can search for students to add

to interventions and/or objectives by using any of the following criteria:

• All or a portion of a Last Name

• All or a portion of a First Name

• Grade

• Class

• Building

• IEP

• Gifted

Note: Only teachers granted access to view Econ Disadvantaged can view

and search by that field.

Once you have entered your search criteria into the fields, click Find.

You are taken to the Students screen.

On the Students screen, you can narrow search results by entering a variety of

information in the search filters to the left of the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to see the search fields, click , and the search

area will collapse. Click to expand the search area when needed.

(Optional) To sort the data on any column, click the column heading.

From the Students screen, you can select which students you want to add to an

intervention or objective.

• To select all students, select the check box in the Name column.

OR

• To select individual students, select the check box next to their names.

Note: As soon as you select a check box, the Add to Intervention and Add

to Objective buttons display at the top of the screen.

Intervention Search

In the Intervention Search area of the Home screen, you can search for students

in order to add them to interventions, edit their interventions, and print or delete

their interventions. Students who have been assigned to an intervention can be

searched for using any of the following criteria:

• Category

• Program

• Referred by

• Intervention Provider

• Tier

• Status

• (Optional) You can narrow search results even more by entering information in

the Student Details section below the main search criteria.

Once you have entered your search criteria into the fields, click Find.

You are taken to the Interventions screen.

On the Interventions screen, you can narrow search results by entering information

in the search fields to the left of the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to see the search fields, click , and the search area

will collapse. Click to expand the search area when needed.

Note: The total number of records found is at the top right of the screen.

(Optional) To sort the data on any column, click the column heading.

You can also add students to interventions, edit student interventions, print student

interventions, or delete students from interventions.

Simply hover your cursor in the row of the desired student until icons appear, and

select the task you want to perform.

From the Interventions screen, you can add an intervention by clicking

Add Intervention at the top of the screen.

Assessment Search

In the Assessment Search area of the Home screen, you can search for students

to view their OAA, OGT, OST, or PARCC assessment results by using any of the

following criteria:

• Assessment Type: Summary, Standards, Data Points

• Subject

• Year

• Tests

• Grade

• Teacher

• Class

Once you have entered your desired search criteria, click Find.

To expand the available search criteria fields, click Advanced Search at the top-

right corner.

On the Summary screen, you can view how a group of students performed on the

OAA, OGT, OST, or PARCC assessment.

Based on the Assessment Type you selected, this determines which screen displays

the students matching your search criteria and the total number of matching

records.

If you selected Summary - OAA, Summary - OST, Summary - OGT, or Summary -

PARCC, the Summary screen displays.

You can narrow search results by entering information in the search fields to the left

of the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to see the search fields, click , and the search area

collapses. Click to expand the search area when needed.

If you selected Standards - OAA, Standards - OST, Standards - OGT, or Standards -

PARCC, the Standards screen displays.

On the Standards screen, you can view student scores and placement on the OAA,

OGT, OST, or PARCC assessment.

You can narrow search results by entering information in the search fields to the left

of the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to see the search fields, click , and the search area

collapses. Click to expand the search area when needed.

Note: If you wish to view 3rd Grade Reading Promotion scores, from the

Assessment Type drop-down list, select OST then select English from the

Subject drop-down list. This can also be done from the Home screen.

If you selected Data Points, the Data Points screen displays.

On the Data Points screen, you can view individual student scores per subject and

test area each time the student took a third-party, district, or state assessment (other

than the OAA, OGT, OST, and PARCC) or a VirtualClassroom Common Assessment.

You can narrow search results by entering information in the search fields to the left

of the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to see the search fields, click , and the search area

collapses. Click to expand the search area when needed.

Accessing the Student Roadmap

In addition to DataMap, the Student Roadmap can be accessed from within GradeBook, SpecialServices, and StudentInformation.

Access from GradeBook

There are two ways you can access the Student Roadmap from within GradeBook:

1. On the Class Dashboard, click on the arrow next to the student’s name, then click Student Roadmap.

2. On the Class Dashboard, click the student’s name. Then, on the Student Profile screen, in the Navigation Links area, click Student Roadmap.

2. Navigate to the View Completed Tasks screen. On the View Completed Tasks screen, under the student’s name in the Student area, click Student Roadmap.

Access from SpecialServices

There are two ways you can access the Student Roadmap from with-in SpecialServices:

1. On the Open Tasks screen in the Student area, click Student Roadmap.

Access from StudentInformation

Once you have a student in context, click the arrow for the I Want To… drop-down list and select View Student Roadmap.

Access from DataMap

To access the Student Roadmap from DataMap, you must first have a student selected.

1. The Student Roadmap can be accessed from the following screens:

a. Students screen

b. Standards screen

c. Data Points screen

d. Interventions screen

e. Graduation Points screen

f. Multiple Measures screen

2. (Optional) To search for a student on any of the screens below, enter your desired search criteria and click Find.

3. Locate the student in the record list on any of the screens. Click the student’s name, and the Student Roadmap screen displays.

Student Roadmap

The Student Roadmap gives you an overview of a single student’s information. On this screen, you can view a student’s demographic information, interventions, current school year summary, and historical test scores.

Demographics

This area of the Student Roadmap lists all of the student’s information and provides a student picture if it is available.

If you have SpecialServices installed and registered, and if you possess the proper privileges, you can view IEPs for the students to whom you have access by clicking Yes under the IEP heading.

This takes you to the View Completed Tasks screen in SpecialServices.

You can view a student’s home address location on Google Maps™ by clicking .

Google Maps™ displays the geographic location of a student’s home address.

Interventions

In this area, you can view and manage a student’s current and past interventions. To view closed interventions, click .

Attendance

In this area, you can view a student’s attendance history for every school year the student has attended your district.

The student’s Total Days Absent displays for each school year.

Review School Year Summary

In this area, you can view a timeline summary of a student’s progress, including the assessments a student has taken over the course of the current school year as well as the student’s scores by subject area.

The teachers in each subject area for the current school year also display.

This section displays

previous state standardized

assessments.

This section displays third-party,

district, and state assessments other

than OAA, OGT, OST, and PARCC.

This section displays the

current school year’s spring

state assessment results.

State Assessment History

In this area, you can view a student’s assessment history for each assessment taken every school year.

From the Subject drop-down list, you can select which assessments you want to display. The default selection is English.

You can see who the teacher was when the exam was taken, the student’s score,

which test the student took, and how the student performed.

You can compare how the student performed year by year for each assessment.

Data Points

In this area, you can view a student’s assessment history (excluding state assessments) for every school year that your district has the data.

The Subject field defaults to Reading, but you can select additional subjects from the drop-down list.

Note: ACT and SAT composite scores are under the subject Other.

District Trusts

Though not a specific area on the Student Roadmap, if your district has a District Trust set up with a JVS district, information regarding Interventions, State Assessment History, and Data Points History from your district displays in read-only format for the JVS district to view (intervention data can be printed). All information from the trusted district is noted with .
