Robot GameMatch Basics

• Robot game is played by an autonomous roboto Touching robot outside base = touch penaltyo Touch penalty exception this season for Obstacle Mission (only)

• Each match is 2 ½ minutes long• At least 1 minute before each round for robot

setup• Two game fields are joined back to back

Robot GameScoring

• Each team gets 3 rounds• Highest score of the 3 rounds counts• Teams given time to practice before matches

begin• Referees will score the round based on field

condition at the end of the round• Referees review score sheet with teams before the scores become final

• Scores are calculated by scoring software

• Supply Truck (20 pts)o Goal: Supply Truck is touching the mat in the yellow region at end of

match

• Ambulance (25 pts)o Goal: Ambulance is in the yellow region at end of the matcho All of Ambulance’s wheels are touching the mat

• Construction Relocation (20 pts)o Goal: No gray building units within light green region at end of match

Plane• Runway (30 pts)

o Goal: At end of match, only wave water and/or cargo plane anywhere on runway

o Objects in yellow region for scoring purposes are exempted

• Cargo Plane (20 or 30 pts)o Goal: Cargo Plane in yellow (but not light blue) or within light blue

region o Update 13 accounts for problems with the Cargo Plane model

Robot GamePenalties

• Penaltieso For each penalty, the referee places roof debris (one per penalty) on

the west-most empty roof marko After the 4th penalty, the west-most roof debris is placed as far into the

north east corner (light blue region) as possibleo -10 pts each outside of light blueo -13 pts each in light blue

Robot GameTypes of Penalties

• Touch (Rule 31)o Touching the robot outside of base (exception made for obstacle mission)o Cargo on robot may be forfeited

• Cargo brought from base the last time the robot left base is returned to base

• Cargo picked up from field is forfeitedo One red roof debris added

• Sprawl (Rule 32)o If the robot is obviously twice the width of base at the end of the match,

regardless of the robot’s locationo One red roof debris added

• Junk (Rule 12)o Strategic objects (objects brought to the field by the team) left on the fieldo -5 pts if junk is smaller/lighter than roboto -13 pts if junk is larger/heavier than robot

• Review proper setup for each missiono Be sure you’re practicing with the correct setup

• When even the smallest part of the robot crosses into base, it’s in base and can be touchedo Cargo follows the same rule – if the cargo is on the back of the robot and

only the front of the robot has crossed into base, the cargo is still out of base and can’t be touched

• Qualifiers/Tournaments provide field kitso Do not bring your own (you’ll be asked to put your kit away)

• During a match, coaches become cheerleaderso Be encouraging, not instructingo Coaches never touch the field (even before/between rounds)

• Max robot height changedo 16” 12”
