Objectives of Streaming
to determine subject combinations for Upper Secondary
based on the student’s personal interest, aptitude and ability in various subjects, and future aspirations & goals.
•Core subjects - English, Math, Science, Humanities
•Criteria for applications to Junior College (L1R5),
Polytechnics (L1R2B2) and ITE
•Relevant subjects to face future challenges, new JC
curriculum (H1, H2, H3)
•Students’ interest and ability in different subject
combinations (preference survey carried out)
Considerations for Sec 3 Subject Combinations
•Wide choice of subject combinations offered. Each subject combination has its own merit.
•Exercise option only after end-of-year exam, and knowing overall exam results
•Number of classes for a subject combination is not fixed. Classes will be opened only if there are sufficient students with the ability and interest who opt for it, and based on availability of school resources including availability of subject teachers

Composite Score
Composite score is calculated using the
student’s overall exam results.
The composite score formula is related
to the demands of the Sec 3 subject
combinations and requirements for
admission to JC/Poly.

Composite Score (100%)
= English Mark (20%)
+ Math Mark (20%)
+ Science Mark (20%)
+ Average of Humanities Marks (Hist/Geog/Lit) (20%)
+ Overall Average of (2X MTL) (8%) & DT & FCE & Art (12%)
Streaming Procedure1. After release of overall result, the composite score is
calculated and students are ranked according to composite
score
2. Students are then given the opportunity to exercise the option
of Sec 3 subject combinations after getting their results and
knowing their composite score rank order.
Note: Subject specific criteria
a) Students opting for triple/double Science combinations must get
at least a B4 for both Math and Science.
b) For NA, students opting for Additional Mathematics must get at
least a Grade 4 for Math.

for a subject combination, students are assigned
based firstly on his rank order, then the choice of
subject combination

Streaming results will be released on 4 Nov (Fri) via AsknLearn Portal
Make wise choices……•Consult your parents on the options that you want to choose (all the slides that were shared by the various IP HODs have been uploaded into Asknlearn portal)
•Options chosen should be based on your
i) Personal Interest
ii) Ability to cope
iii) Future Aspirations and Goals
After the closure of online streaming options on 31 Oct, the options submitted is considered final.
In 2017
Students are expected to work hard in your respective subject combination.
At the end of Sec 3, students’ results will be reviewed against his/her ability to cope with specific subjects.
