How Lung Cancer starts.

In your lungs there are cells, if the cells are exposed to toxins such as cigarettes and tobacco it could genetically mutate the cells to over produce leading to a small tumor called Stage I 5 cm wide that has not spread to any lymph nodes or other organs is classified. Stage II cancers are larger and may have spread to lymph nodes on the same side of chest, and/or may have begun to invade other structures within the chest, still if not cafeful or wathed it would lead to Stage III. Where a tumor that has spread to lymph nodes beyond the same side of the chest, but does not appear to have spread to other organs outside the chest is classified as stage III.
