SENATE INQUIRY TO EXAMINE TASMANIA’S ENERGY SECURITY
A Senate inquiry being held in Hobart tomorrow will
consider Tasmania’s future energy
security.
The Select Committee into Scrutiny of Government Budget easures
will hear from !eywitnesses about the energy crisis" the failure of
the Basslin! cable and the inister for#nergy’s decision to sell the
Tamar $alley %ower Station.
Senator Brown said the Senate inquiry will ho&efully give
Tasmanians the truth about what isha&&ening because the
Government has failed to be u& front and honest.
'Tasmania is in the middle of an un&recedented energy
crisis" our dam levels aredangerously low and the cost of diesel
for the generators will run into millions of dollars"(
Senator Brown said.

from the government about whatit has done to ensure the Granville
Harbour -ind arm gets off the ground.

quarter of the value of the entireGranville Harbour -ind arm in
diesel generation bills each month" but can’t &rogress
a&ower &urchase agreement that would get the &ro,ect
