General Program Information• Current membership required to participate

in all programs during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Please renew your membership prior to registration.

• If you are on a waitlist and are notified that a spot has become available for you, you have 48 hours to respond to us. After that, the next person on the waitlist will be offered the spot. Please provide your email address to notify you when a spot becomes available.

• Programs will be cancelled, if necessary, due to insufficient registration, one week prior to the first class.

• Please do not enter rooms until five minutes before the start of your program. Leave no later than five minutes after the end of your program. We need time and space for set up and take down for each program.

• If you can, please help your fellow members by parking at Central Arena. This leaves the main parking lot available for those who are not able to walk long distances.

• As a courtesy to members with allergies, please refrain from using perfume, cologne or other scented products.

How to Register for Programs

RecExpress – OnlineTo register online, please follow these steps:1. Go to www.burlington.ca/recexpress. 2. Select the ‘Programs’ tab and find your

desired program using the TTR search or by clicking “Recreation Programs” on the left then selecting “Adult/Senior”.

3. Select ‘Add’ from the program you wish to register for.

4. You will be prompted to enter your Client ID and Family PIN*.

5. Pick the right family member using the drop down menu.

6. If you have selected all programs you wish to register for, proceed to checkout. Pay by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or by using a credit on your Parks and Recreation Account. You can choose to email or print your receipt. Once programs have started, RecExpress cannot be used for registration.

In Person - Register at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre, Tansley Woods or Brant Hills Community Centres, Haber Recreation Centre and City Hall starting at 9 a.m. on registration day. Numbers are handed out at 7:30 a.m. at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre. Pay by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. After registration day, members can register at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre Front Desk, Monday to Friday during office hours.

Fax - Fill out the registration form and payment information and fax it to the Burlington Seniors’ Centre at 905-634-8338 or to Parks and Recreation at 905-335-7837. Registrations received by fax will be processed within two business days of receipt after registration start day.

Mail - Fill out the registration form and payment information and mail it to the address below. Registrations received by mail will be processed within two business days of receipt after registration start day. City of Burlington Parks and Recreation Registration P.O. Drop Box - Fill out the registration form and payment information. Do not include cash. Drop-box is at the City Hall Locust Street Entrance. Registrations received by drop-box will be processed within two business days of receipt after registration start day.

RecExpress – Touch Tone Phone - Dial 905-335-3131, an automated voice will guide you step by step through the registration process. You will need your, Client ID and Family PIN*, Program TTR (Touch Tone Registration) number for each program you would like to register for and credit card number with expiry date or money on your Parks and Recreation account. You will receive program confirmation immediately once registered. Please note that once programs have started, RecExpress cannot be used for registration.

Seniors’ Programs 55 years plus

It just keeps getting better…new programs available.

The Centre Piece Magazine Interested in advertising in the next issue? This magazine is distributed to over 3,400 members on a quarterly basis and is a great way to reach out to older adults in our community. Email [email protected] for information, fees and deadlines.

Interested in Volunteering?Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and have fun. There are many volunteer opportunities available. To find one that’s right for you, fill out a volunteer application form, at the front desk of the Burlington Seniors’ Centre. For more information, email [email protected] or call 905-335-7888.

Friends of the CentreThe Burlington Seniors’ Centre Board of Directors offers an In Memoriam program; a lasting way for friends and family members to remember loved ones by helping other seniors. All local funeral homes have agreed to promote this program. Tax receipts for $25 donations or over will be issued. In Memoriam cards are also available at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre.

YAYAH – Young and Young at Heart - April 5 to June 7This partnership with the Ron Edwards Family YMCA, the United Way and the Burlington Seniors’ Centre offers a unique inter-generational program for youth and seniors in the community. Connect with ‘at-risk’ youth and become a positive role model in their lives. With the guidance of a professional chef, seniors and youth will prepare and share a meal together each Tuesday, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.Space is limited. PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SENIORS’ RELEASE FORM

In consideration of permission to use the property, facilities, staff, equipment and services of the Corporation of the City of Burlington, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, or assigns, or as the legal guardian of the minor registrant, do hereby release, indemnify and save harmless, waive, and forever discharge the City of Burlington, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injury, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in activities, classes, observation, and use of facilities, premises, or equipment. I further authorize the City of Burlington to obtain any medical care deemed necessary in the event of an injury and agree to pay for any resulting medical expenses.

REFUND PROCEDURE • Fill out and submit a ‘Transfer/Withdrawal’ form. • Refunds will be either a credit on your Parks & Recreation Account or a cheque issued

within approximately 15 business days. • Refunds for payments made by credit card will be credited back to the appropriate credit

card.

REFUND POLICY • Full refunds will be issued after the 1st class. • Refunds will be prorated after commencement of the 2nd class. • Refunds will be prorated to the date of the request and not on the date of last class

attended. • No refunds will be provided after the end of the 3rd class unless a doctor’s note is provided

and this must be done within two weeks of the last date of the program. • Refunds will not be issued for one day programs such as, but not limited to, workshops,

movie programs and Breakfast at the Bistro. • DAY TRIPS: All day trips are planned, offered and operated by the Burlington Seniors’

Centre Board of Directors (BCSI). The regular program registration process is applicable; however, there are no refunds and no waitlists for Day Trips. Trip registrations are transferable but it is up to the registrant to find their replacement. If you decide to transfer your trip registration, please inform the customer service at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre immediately. It is extremely important that we supply a complete and correct roster to the trip coordinator. All day trip questions and concerns should be directed to the current Events Liaison on the Board of Directors.
