Sense Verbs
LookSmellSound These are the sense verbs that Feel we use to describe someone or Taste something.
Use the sense verbs ( in Simple Present) with adjectives to describe how someone or something looks, sounds, feels, tastes or smells.
Subject + looks + adjective
It looks sad.
Subject + smells + adjective
It smells nice.
Subject + tastes + adjective
This chocolate tastes delicious!
Subject + feels + adjective
This blanket feels soft.
Subject + sounds + adjective
We have to clean all the house!
It sounds tiring!
Express your opinion!
When you use sense verbs with adjectives you express your own feelings or opinions.
e.g. “ It looks nice” means “ I think it is nice.”
Sense verbs + nouns
If you want to use a noun after a sense verb, use the word “ like” between the sense verb and the noun.
