One day national workshopunder the theme of 'MountainMatters' was held at Lal DedAuditorium of BhadarwahCampus.
Dr C.M. Seth, retiredChairman Pollution ControlBoard and Chief WildlifeWarden was the chief guestwhile R.S Jasrotia RetiredCCF was Guest of Honour andChewang Norphel an engineerby profession and widely knownas Glacier man of India wasSpecial Guest on the occasion.Rector Bhadarwah CampusProf. Anil K Raina presidedover the function.
In his formal address , Prof.Anil K Raina RectorBhadarwah Campus while wel-coming all the dignitaries whoreached Bhaderwah despite theharsh weather condition, said
that almost one billion peoplelive in mountain areas, and overhalf the human populationdepends on mountains forwater, food and clean energy.
Key note address was pre-sented by Experts R.SJasrotia, Chewang Norpheland Dr C.M. Seth.
In their keynote address thedignitaries laid emphasis toprotect the mountains from thechallenges they are facing.
Dr Neeraj Sharma HeadInstitute of MountainEnvironment (IME)Bhadarwah Campus while pre-senting the theme and innerreport of the event said thatInstitute of MountainEnvironment BhadarwahCampus was established in the
year 2011 comprise of threefaculties, faculty of life sciences,faculty of earth sciences andfaculty of economics.
To aware the students aboutthe importance of mountains, adebate/painting competitionwas also organised in 2nd ses-sion by the Institute ofMountain Environment (IME)in which more than 40 studentsfrom various government andprivate schools participated.
In poster/painting MominaMalik, Tazium Fatima andLaiba Rehmat were declaredfirst, second and third respec-tively, while as Fahad Irshad,Mohd Rizwan and Sania Malikwere declared first, second andthird in Symposium competi-tion. On the occasion all the
participating students weregiven certificates.
Later, In order to betterunderstand the changing sce-narios in terms of ecology, econ-omy, culture with special refer-ence to Bhadarwah andChenab region, a panel discus-sion was organised with thepro-active participation of gold-en agers, the senior citizens whohave spent their life time in themountains, valley and streamsof Bhadarwah.
The deliberations resulted inthe formulation of a blue printfor the effective managementand conservation of nature andnatural resources across themountains of north westernHimalaya.
Prominent among those whowere present on the occasioninclude DFO BhadarwahKhalid Metha, Dr JatinderManhas, Dr Kuljeet Singh, DrRakesh Sharma, Miss BublooSharma, Dr Sunil Bhardwaj,Dr Mohd Avias, ERO ArifHaleem Khateeb, faculty mem-bers, students and staff of theBhaderwah Campus.

STATE TIMES NEWSSAMBA: Sixty candidates were selected under SkillDevelopment Training Programme which is funded byNational Schedule Caste finance and DevelopmentCorporation (NSFDC) at Samba on Tuesday.
These candidates will be trained electrician domestic solu-tion job role of power sector skill council with the duration of350 hours. They said the beneficiaries can get stipend if theywill achieved a benchmark of attendance.
Awareness campaign launchedfor Super 50 coaching programme
STATE TIMES NEWSUDHAMPUR: Education Department on Tuesday launchedawareness campaign for super 50 coaching scheme for winterZone students of the district.
The students have to appear in the entrance examination forundergoing free caching for 60 days at Jammu.
The Chief Education Officer, Tarsem Lal, informed that thestudents who have secured minimum 50 % marks in matricu-lation examination and appeared in the Higher Secondarypart -II in science stream during the annual regular session2018 winter zone can apply for the coaching. There are 50seats available for Jammu division.
The Principals of Higher Secondary Schools of winter zoneof the district were directed to ask the interested students toapply on plain paper along with a copy of 10th class markssheet on or before 13th of December 2018 by 4:00 PM in theoffice of CEO. The boarding and lodging of selected studentswill be borne by directorate of school education Jammu.
STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Showkat Aijaz Bhat onTuesday chaired a meeting toreview progress under districtCAPEX budget 2018-19besides major projects beingexecuted in the district.
The DDC reviewed physi-cal and financial achieve-ments registered byEducation, PWD, PHE,PDD, RDD, ICDS, JKPCC,Health, Animal Husbandry,Agriculture, Horticulture,JKPCC and other depart-ments under various stateand centrally sponsoredschemes besides progress onlanguishing projects of PHEdepartment.
The DDC directed the offi-cers to generate awarenessamong the public regardingbenefit of Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaAbhiyan (AB-PMJAY). Hedirected the BDOs to ensurethat vital works like develop-ment of playfields, construc-tion of Anganwari Centres,bridges, approach roads andpaths towards schools in theirareas are expedited for timelycompletion.
Various land acquisitionissues were also resolved onthe spot.
He asked PWD to ensurespeedy completion of roads,schools, Health and otherdepartment buildings undervarious schemes.
He asked the ADC to con-duct physical verification ofongoing construction work onHealth Center buildings in
far flung areas besides askingDeputy Director, DRDA toconduct physical verificationof road projects.
The DDC fixed deadline forall departments for comple-tion of ongoing projects sothat 100 per cent achieve-ment is registered under dis-trict plan, state plan andother centrally sponsoredschemes. He directed the offi-cers to identify land for theconstruction of Girls hostelsat Ramsoo and Gool.
The BDOs were asked toensure registration of benefi-ciaries under PMAY-G andGEO tagging so that deserv-ing people can be providedhouse and other benefitsunder the schemes. He askedthe BDOs to generate maxi-mum man days under MGN-REGA for providing liveli-hood to job seekers at theirdoorsteps.
Meanwhile, the DDCreviewed the implementationof schemes including PMAY(R), SAUBHAGYA and tookdetailed review of the statusand progress of majordevelopment projects includ-ing Schools buildings,Heath centres especially 50bedded Hospital Banihal,District Hospital, PHCs,Girls Hostel Khanti.
The meeting was attendedby ADC Dr. BasharatHussain, CPO Uttam Singh,Deputy Director, DRDA,Execuitve Engineers ofPWD, REW and PDD,CMO, CEO, CHO, CAO,DFOs, BDOs and other dis-trict officers.

The SLPSC approved the Annual WorkPlans for the Financial Years 2018-19
(December 2018 to March 2019) and 2019-20 to the tune of Rs 4.00 crore.
The Annual Work Plan envisages explor-ing energy smart and climate resilient solu-tion in selected villages of Changthangregion of Ladakh, supporting the blacknecked crane nest-adoption programmeundertaken by the local community, involv-ing incentivization schemes for the same,exposure visit / training programmes forWildlife Department staff pertaining to tran-quilization, capture and rescue of wild ani-mals, GIS and Mapping etc, developing com-munity-run Nature Information Centre atidentified site in the landscape, organizingmass awareness activities for promotion ofnature/wildlife sensitization, in selectedzones and protected areas, preparing LandUse Land Cover Map, and creating DecisionSupport systems, Economic Valuation ofEcosystem services, livestock vaccinationprogram to prevent spread of diseases to wildanimals, drive to carry out Bird ringing andsurvey Program, understanding relationshipbetween Changpas and their environment,understanding Bear-Human conflict inZanskar Landscape, study on impact oftourism and recommendations for sustain-able tourism.
The Annual Work Plan further includedthe construction of community water reser-voirs (Zing) ,purchasing of equipment forGenetic lab (Research purposes),trainingand capacity building of master trainersfrom handicraft department, strengtheninghomestays in the landscape throughimproved market linkages and training, con-struction of 10 units of predator proof Corral
Pens for Yaks and value addition to sheep &yak wool including product development andmarketing support, funding the engage-ment/training of local villagers as wildlifewatchers, to facilitate intelligence gathering,anti poaching, patrolling and surveillanceetc, purchase of utility Vehicle for Human-wildlife conflict mitigation, survey, surveil-lance, and to aid in other departmental activ-ities.
The Committee also approved the constitu-tion of a Technical Committee under theChairmanship of Principal ChiefConservator of Forests/Chief WildlifeWarden, Jammu & Kashmir for adaptiveplanning process and scrutiny of studies pro-posed by UNDP Country Office, New Delhiunder this project.
It was given out that the SECUREHimalaya project, a Global EnvironmentalFacility (GEF) funded project is beingimplemented by the Ministry ofEnvironment, Forest & Climate Change,Government of India, in association withUnited Nations Development Programme(UNDP).
The project aims to promote ecologicalsecurity, biodiversity conservation, liveli-hoods, sustainable use and restoration ofhigh range Himalayan Ecosystems in thefour states of Jammu & Kashmir, HimachalPradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim.
In J&K, the project is being implementedthrough J&K State Wildlife ProtectionDepartment and Changthang region ofLadakh has been identified as the projectarea with a tentative outlay of Rs 20 cr for aproject period of 5 years.
