Aligarh Muslim University students’ tour culminates Birth Anniversary of Sant Shiromani Sai Dass Maharaj celebrated Birth Anniversary of Dr Ambedkar celebrated STATE TIMES NEWS NEW DELHI: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura participated in a meeting on 'Reforms in Agriculture Marketing' con- vened here on Tuesday by the Union Agriculture Minister. The occasion also marked the launch of Model Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2017. Hanjura in his speech dwelt on the implementation of the Act after due consulta- tion with other Ministers whose departments also come in its ambit. He called for establishment of Mandis in the radius of 10 kms in the first phase. These Mandis can reduce the transporta- tion costs and increase the disposable income for the farmers. He also stressed for financial support from Union Agriculture Ministry for opening of these Mandis and other infrastructural needs of the agriculture in the State. E-NAM is being imple- mented throughout the coun- try and 585 Mandis will be linked to it. A unified Agriculture Market for the country will finally be a real- ity in near future and the Minister apprised the meet- ing that Big Mandis in Jammu and Kashmir will be on the portal soon. The Union Secretary for Agriculture briefed the Minister and expressed his full support for the Saffron Mission in Jammu and Kashmir. The workers put forth their demand for payment of min- imum wages as fixed by the central government. Ganga assured the workers that they will get wages as per Labour Law/Act adding that their issues will be taken up with the Industry Federation and trade unions and would be redressed at the earliest. The occasion also markedthe launch of ModelAgricultural Produce andLivestock Marketing(Promotion and Facilitation)Act, 2017.

Hanjura in his speechdwelt on the implementationof the Act after due consulta-tion with other Ministerswhose departments alsocome in its ambit. He calledfor establishment of Mandisin the radius of 10 kms in thefirst phase. These Mandiscan reduce the transporta-tion costs and increase the

disposable income for thefarmers. He also stressed forfinancial support from UnionAgriculture Ministry foropening of these Mandis andother infrastructural needsof the agriculture in theState.

E-NAM is being imple-mented throughout the coun-try and 585 Mandis will belinked to it. A unifiedAgriculture Market for thecountry will finally be a real-ity in near future and theMinister apprised the meet-ing that Big Mandis inJammu and Kashmir will beon the portal soon.

The Union Secretary forAgriculture briefed theMinister and expressed hisfull support for the SaffronMission in Jammu andKashmir.
