Items Covered Under This Warranty

During the specified warranty period,all necessary repairs or replacements ofthe parts listed below will be made byany authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer(as applicable) at no charge* to you orany eligible subsequent Private PartyPurchaser**, to correct defects in materialor workmanship in covered vehicle partsand/or systems of a Mercedes-BenzCertified Pre-Owned vehicle. Itemscovered below must have been installedprior to or at MBCPO retail delivery.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

*No Charge: Mercedes-Benz CertifiedPre-Owned Limited Warranty repairs andreplacements will be made at no charge forparts or labor as well as those diagnosticoperations that are directly related to thewarranty repairs.

**Private Party Purchaser: Any purchaserof the vehicle other than a motor vehicledealer, an authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealeror a person engaged in the business ofbuying, selling, or exchanging vehicles.

Any repairs will be made as deter-mined by Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC,using new or remanufactured GenuineMercedes-Benz Parts at its discretion.

If a Part Is Not Listed, It Is Not Covered

1. ENGINE: Engine block, cylinderhead(s), cylinder head gasket(s), allinternally lubricated parts, includinginternally lubricated seals and gaskets,intake and exhaust manifolds, timingchain cover, flywheel, flex-plate, vibrationdamper (harmonic balancer), coolantpump, turbocharger, supercharger, belttensioners, injection pump, controlmodule, and motor mounts.

2. 3. REAR AXLE: Center section/rearaxle and all internally lubricated parts,including internally lubricated sealsand gasket, axle side shafts, drive shaft,drive shaft center bearing, drive shaftflex-disc assembly, rear axle shaftbearings and hubs.

4. ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM(ESP): Control module, wheel speedsensors, hydraulic pump and electricmotor, all hydraulic lines and lateralacceleration sensors.

5. AUTOMATIC SLIP DIFFERENTIAL(ASD): All hydraulic system componentsincluding pump, pressure lines, solenoid/valves and control module.

10. G-CLASS MODELS ONLY: Transfercase, transfer case shift motor, front axle,including seals and gaskets, front driveshaft, front axle shaft, bearings, wheelspeed sensors and hubs.

11. COOLING SYSTEM: Thermostat, rad-iator, fan clutch, engine fan (includingelectronic fan), coolant expansion tank,transmission and engine oil coolers aswell as the metal lines and fittings.

12. FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM: Vacuumshutoff, vacuum control valve, ALDA/BCAPA (barometric pressure-charge aircompensation) unit, fuel pump, cold startvalve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injec-tors (gas and diesel), fuel injector hold-ers, all metal high-pressure fuel injectionlines and return lines, warm-up regula-tor, fuel accumulator, fuel distributor,mass/volume air flow sensor, primarypressure regulator, engine idle speedcontrol valve, fuel heater (diesel only),fuel primer pump (hand operated [dieselonly]), throttle linkage assembly, fueltank and expansion tank.

13. STEERING SYSTEM: Power steeringgear box including PML control valve,pump, pump pulley, ignition lock includ-ing cylinder/tumblers, drag link, steer-ing shock absorber, steering knuckle, tierods, idler arm and idler arm bushing.

14. SUSPENSION: Coil springs, anti-swaytorsion bar as well as associated linkageand brackets, ADS pump (where appli-cable), reservoir, valves, accumulators,valve linkage, suspension pressure reser-voir, gas spring reservoir, oil reservoirand cover, oil level sending unit, high-pressure oil hose, distribution valve,switch level adjustment, solenoid lockingvalve, suspension acceleration sensor,body acceleration sensor, switch loadsensor, upper and lower control arms,as well as all suspension links and bush-ings, ball joints, wheel bearings, wheelbearing seals and air suspension struts.

15. BRAKE SYSTEM: Master cylinder,brake booster, Brake Operating Unitincluding BOU sensors, vacuum pump,hydraulic unit (ABS or ABS/ETS/ASR/ESP/SBS) wheel speed sensors, brakecalipers, proportioning valve, metal andcomposite hydraulic lines and fittings.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Ignition coilsand secondary wiring, starter systemcomponents, as well as all electricalmotors, wiring harnesses and connectors,starter lockout switch, sending units,sensors, switches, fuse boxes, relaymodules, control modules, transmitters,instrument panel, gauges, rheostats,potentiometers, blower motor seriesresistors, alternator pulley, voltageregulator, diodes, buzzers, horns,actuators, timers, electro-mechanicalvalves, solenoids, as well as air bagcontact plate (located in steering wheel),heated seat elements, and globalpositioning system (GPS).

17. CLIMATE CONTROL: All electricalcomponents noted above, as well as theA/C compressor and clutch, receiver/drier bottle, refrigerant hoses andconnections, evaporator, expansion valve,condenser, rear vent control cables,vacuum actuators, all vacuum valves andelements, auxiliary cooling pump, coldengine lock-out switch, temperature

selector wheel, servo unit, mono valve,dual valve, switchover valve, heater coreand heater housing assembly.

18. BODY: Window regulators, sunroofcables, front and rear windshield wiperlinkages, power seat drive cables andseat belt assemblies.

19. CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM:Actuator/element, pneumatic checkvalve, switches and linkages.

20. TOWING: In the event of a mechanicalbreakdown due to a covered part duringthe term of this Limited Warranty, andif the towing charges are reasonableand competitive, the cost of towing thevehicle to the nearest authorizedMercedes-Benz Dealer is covered.

Additional charges not covered bythis Limited Warranty may be applicablefor a breakdown location that is not areasonably accessible roadside location,as determined by the authorizedMercedes-Benz Dealer Technician ortow service provider.

21. REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING:Transmitters (excluding batteries) andreceivers.*

22. CLOSING ASSIST: Actuators,switches, and supply pump.*

23. SOFT TOP/RETRACTABLE HARDTOP:Mechanical linkages, hydraulic unit,valves/solenoids, switches and sensors.*

27. NAVIGATION SYSTEM: CD drive,control module, antenna system.

28. OPTICAL NETWORK: Fiber opticsand connectors associated with opticalcomponentry.

29. COMAND: Control display unit,central processor, steering wheel controlsystem, integrated CD drive, integratednavigation processor, GPS antennasystem and navigation CD drive.

30. MODULAR CONTROL SYSTEM (MCS)— M-CLASS ONLY: MCS — centralizedcomponent control unit, single CD player,CD changer, audio amplification system,navigation system and antenna system.

31. HYBRID VEHICLES: High-VoltageBattery coolant system, Electric Drivemotors, Regenerative Braking Systemcomponents.*

8. Damage due to accidents, fraud, negli-gence, misuse, improper adjustments,modification, alterations, disconnection,or tampering. Damage due to accidentsor acts of nature of other events beyondthe control of MBUSA; damage fromobjects striking the vehicle. Misuse ofthe vehicle such as but not limited to:

– Driving over curbs

– Overloading

– Improper operation

– Operating without regard tovehicle warning lights

– Storage or transport

(Proper vehicle use is described in theOperator’s Manual.)

9. Damage due to lack of maintenance orlack of proper maintenance or failure touse specified maintenance parts and flu-ids as described or indicated in the vehi-cle’s Service Booklet.

10. Normal maintenance such as:

– Cleaning and polishing

– Lubrication and filter changesas specified

– Engine tune-up

– Wiper blades

– Replacement of worn brake padsand discs

11. Damage due to alterations (changesor additions) to the vehicle that adverselyaffect its performance, reliability, andlongevity.

13. Altered odometer: Any vehicle onwhich the odometer has been altered andthe actual mileage cannot be determined.

14. Consequential damages: Primary andSecondary Loss Definitions

Primary Loss: This MBCPO LimitedWarranty only covers the PrimaryWarranted failed part, as well as damageto other components which are damagedas a direct result of the failed PrimaryWarranted part.

Secondary Loss: Secondary losses are notcovered by the MBCPO LimitedWarranty. Examples of Secondary Lossesinclude but are not limited toConsequential Damages, which are dam-ages / expenses incurred subsequent tothe primary loss.

15. Repairs at nonauthorized dealers:Otherwise covered repairs when theprescribed repair is not performed by anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer.

16. Liability from use of the vehicle:Liability for damage to property or injuryor death of any person arising out of theoperation, maintenance, or use of thevehicle whether or not related to theprescribed repair.

17. Vehicle used “for-hire” purpose orcommercial rental: Vehicle cannot beused for commercial purposes.

18. Taxes: Any and all taxes requiredon this Limited Warranty except whereprescribed by law.

19. Extra expenses: This MBCPO LimitedWarranty does not cover:

– Loss of the vehicle duringwarranty repairs

– Lodging bills

– Substitute transportation rentals

– Other travel costs

– Telephone calls

– Loss of pay

20. Items, systems, parts, and accesso-ries not identified as covered: If a sys-tem, item, part, or accessory is not listedon pages 9-12 of this document in thesection titled “ITEMS COVERED UNDERTHIS WARRANTY,” it is not covered bythis MBCPO Limited Warranty.

Limits of Liability

The only remedy available under aMercedes-Benz Certified Pre-OwnedLimited Warranty is the prescribed workperformed in accordance with the termsof this warranty.

There is no liability for incidental orconsequential loss or damage under thiswarranty including, but not limited toliability for the following:

• Injury

• Loss of life

• Property damage

• Loss of use

• Loss of time, inconvenience,or commercial loss

Any amount exceeding the actualmarket value of the vehicle is not theresponsibility of MBUSA.

Conditions and Vehicle ServiceRequirements for Your Warranty

• This Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is applicableonly in the United States and PuertoRico.

• Within the scope of this LimitedWarranty, any covered defective partsin your vehicle will be exchanged orrepaired by your Mercedes-BenzDealership. Mercedes-Benz recom-mends Genuine Mercedes-Benz Parts,exchange units, and factory-approvedaccessories for all of your vehicle’sreplacement parts. These parts meetthe same exacting quality controlstandards as the original equipmenton your vehicle and comply with allapplicable Federal and State safetyregulations.

• Repairs covered under Mercedes-Benzwarranties must be performed at anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealership.Any applicable, authorized Mercedes-

Benz Dealer of your choice willperform Mercedes-Benz CertifiedPre-Owned Limited Warranty repairsor replacements. Please present thisbooklet to your Mercedes-Benz ServiceAdvisor to speed service order write-ups.

• Your vehicle should be delivered tothe Mercedes-Benz Dealer duringnormal service hours, and a reasonabletime should be allowed for performanceof the repair.

• Mercedes-Benz requires that youservice your vehicle at our specifiedmileage intervals. Your Operator’sManual and your vehicle’s ServiceBooklet contain this information.These services help assure the properoperation of your vehicle. The requiredservice maintenance is available at allauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealerships.

• Maintenance service as recom-mended in your vehicle’s ServiceBooklet can be performed by anyqualified service outlet. However,we recommend that all maintenanceservice work be performed by yourauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealership,which has the trained personnel, tools,diagnostic instruments, and servicereference literature necessary to per-form the recommended maintenancecorrectly and systematically.

Failure to follow the requiredMercedes-Benz service maintenanceschedule—using specified materials,fluids, and parts, at the specifiedintervals—could cause vehicle damagenot covered by this warranty.

Where applicable, your vehicle mayqualify for any remaining portion of theEmission Systems, Emission Performance,or California Emission Control Systemwarranties.

The law requires your vehicle to conformto exhaust emission standards. To providethe best vehicle performance and lowestvehicle emissions, you are responsible tosee that all recommended maintenanceprocedures detailed in the vehicle’sService Booklet are performed at thespecified times and mileages. Theemission control warranty does notcover failures due solely to owner abuseor lack of proper maintenance. (Refer tothe original new vehicle Service andWarranty Information booklet for moreinformation regarding coverage.)

More frequent maintenance may beneeded for vehicles under severeoperating conditions such as dusty areas,very short trip driving, or trailer towing.

Emission system warranty obligationsare not dependent upon the use of anyparticular brand of replacement parts,so you may elect to use non-genuineMercedes-Benz parts for replacementpurposes. We recommend the use ofMercedes-Benz spare parts for serviceand repairs, however, since they havebeen made according to manufacturerspecifications.

It is also important to use only fuels andlubricants meeting factory specificationssince the emission systems warrantydoes not cover the repair or replacementof parts necessitated by failure to usesuch items.

Transferability

If you transfer or sell your vehicle to aPrivate Party Purchaser*, the remainingbenefits under the Mercedes-BenzCertified Pre-Owned Limited Warrantycan be transferred to the new owner.(If, however, the vehicle is sold to aDealer or other vehicle reseller, thewarranty terminates.)

To complete the transfer to a PrivateParty Purchaser:

• Provide the Mercedes-Benz ServiceBooklet and Mercedes-Benz Service andWarranty Information booklet for thevehicle to the Private Party Purchaser.

• Complete and send to MBUSA the“Notice of Address Change or Changeof Ownership” card in the center ofthis booklet.

The Mercedes-Benz CertifiedPre-Owned Limited Warranty can notbe transferred to another vehicle.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

*Private Party Purchaser: Any purchaserof the vehicle other than a motor vehicledealer, an authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealeror a person engaged in the business ofbuying, selling, or exchanging vehicles.
