Seven Holy Founders Parish

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 25, 2016

Dear parishioners: It's not too late! Thanks to all who have registered to come to a reception for "Beyond Sunday" this Sunday af-ternoon at 12:30pm, or Tuesday

evening, September 27th at 7pm. It's not too late for those who we not able to register to join us at one of the receptions. The gatherings will give you the opportunity to visit with fellow parishioners. We will hear a brief pres-entation on how the Beyond Sunday Campaign will support Catholic Education now and in the fu-ture. We will also be able to share thoughts on how the 40% of monies collected in the parish will be used! And of course, we will be able to ask you to consider making a pledge to the campaign. As you probably know, over 1100 middle-class grade school and high school students were given tuition grants totaling $1.8 million for this school year. Combined with grants that were already available for low income families from the Archdi-ocesan "Alive in Christ" and "Today and Tomor-row" programs, over 5000 children received tuition assistance for this school year. Beautiful! Amazing! So, come if you can. I look forward to seeing you. If you are not able to attend one of the receptions, please call the Rectory and we will be able to get comprehensive “Beyond Sunday” information to you. Also, plan on joining us on Saturday, October 1st for our Fall Festival! Invite family, friends, chil-dren, grandchildren and any alumni that you know! We hope this can be a “Fun Raiser” for all who attend. Pray for a beautiful day for all who at-tend. Oh yes, and of course, we can still use some volunteers! In Christ, Fr. John 1406

Praying with Scripture Year of Mercy Deacon Tom Schiller and Parishioner Bill Lampe are hosting a 'Praying with Scrip-ture' study that began Thursday, 9/22/16. Given that this year is the Year of Mercy, we thought we’d pray with the

book The Holy Year of Mercy: A Faith-Sharing Guide With Reflections by Pope Francis. The book covers a piece of Scripture each week with Pope Francis giving a reflection on the passage. The book provides a lot of questions for discussion and growth. Remaining dates are: 9/29, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10 in The Mary Room. All Thursday evenings 7pm. Do NOT feel like you have to attend all sessions to be a part of this! Please email Tom Schiller at 486-8600 or [email protected] to reserve your place and a book. The investment is $11.

WEEK OF GRACE AND PRAYER: A Retreat in Everyday Life In his prayer for the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis said, “Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!” Participating in the Week of Grace and Prayer retreat in everyday life is a great way to discover that gift. Starts October 2nd. Pray privately 30 minutes each day and meet privately with an experi-enced spiritual companion 30 minutes each day for one week, afternoon or evening, at your convenience. This is an individually directed retreat tailored to your own deep desires. Committed couples also have the option to participate as a couple. Spiritual companions are not members of our parish, nor may accompany anyone they know. Brochures and registration forms are located in church. If you have questions, please contact Sr. Pat at the rec-tory (314-638-3938) or email her at [email protected] . Registration NEEDED ASAP. There is no registration fee, but retreatants are invited to share the costs as they are able. More info at www.weekofguidedprayer.org.

40 Days for Life Sept 28-Nov 6, 2016

You Can Help Save Lives! Beginning Ash Wednes-day, February 10th, our parish will participate in the “40 Days for Life” campaign. We will be uniting with oth-ers in our city, in cities nationwide and in other coun-tries, for a massive coordinated pro-life effort to fight abortion. Our efforts begin with prayer and fasting. You can pray individually, such as in your home or car, in a group, and at the abortion facility. Fasting can be in the form of giving up something that may separate you from God such as TV, caffeine or alcohol. The most visible part of the campaign is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood abor-tion facility at Forest Park and Boyle every day for 40 days. Our parish is covering there from 1 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, October 30th. Please consider signing up to be a Prayer Volunteer at Planned Parenthood. Look for more information about “40 Days for Life”, for prayer cards and for sign-up sheets in the back of church. Visit www.coalitionforlifestl.com. You can help make a life-saving impact with your prayers, fasting, and presence at Planned Parenthood. Thank you.
