The SFT-110 and SFT-110XW Supercritical Fluid Extractors(SFE) are entry level systems which possess many featurestypically found in more costly SFE equipment. They may beusedforavarietyofapplicationsfrombasicresearchtoprocessdevelopment.

These SFE systems were developed for researchers whowant to investigate the feasibility of applying supercriticalfluid techniques to awide variety of analytical and processingproblems.Inadditiontonumerousindustrialuses,theSFT-110andSFT-110XWareidealforcollegesanduniversities.Theyareaffordableforteachinglaboratoriesandwell-suitedtotheneedsoftheseriousresearcher.

TheSFT-110accommodates5mlto100mlextractionvessels.Itmaybeoperatedatpressuresupto10,000psi.(68.9MPa)andattemperaturesrangingfromambientto200°C.

The SFT-110XW accomodates 5 ml to 500 ml extractionvessels. It may be operated at pressures up to 10,000 psi.(68.9 MPa) and at temperatures ranging from ambient to200°C.ItispossibletoconfiguretheSFT-110XWwiththewiderange of vessels volumes making the SFT-110XW well-suitedto both analytical scale SFE applications and basic processdevelopmentwork.Witha500mlvessel, theSFT-110XWcanextract very low levels of key components frommaterials andprocesslargeramountsofbulkmaterialthanwouldbepossiblewithsmaller,analyticalscaleSFEequipment.Forevengreaterversatility,theSFX-110XWmaybeconfiguredfordualvessels,inseriesorparralleloperation.

Inside the SFT-110 series’ oven, a preheater ensures thatthe temperature of the fluid reaching the extraction vessel(s)is controlled precisely. This is essential to obtaining accurate,repeatableresults.

Both the SFT-110 and SFT-110XW incorporate the SFT-10high performance, dual piston carbon dioxide pump whichproducesthehighpressuresrequiredforsupercriticalfluidwork.Thepumphasbuilt-insafetyprecautions topreventaccidentalover-pressure conditions. As an additional safety backup, arupture disc assembly provides mechanical protection againstaccidentalover-pressurizationofthesystem.

Manuallyoperatedvalvesensurelongterm,maintenancefreeoperation. An integratedprogramlogiccontrollermonitorsandadjusts the fluid flow rate to achieve and maintain a desiredpressuresetpoint. APID temperaturecontrollermonitorsandmaintains precise fluid temperature inside the high pressurevessel.

The SFT-110 and SFT-110XW utilize the latest variablerestrictor valve (back pressure regulator) technology, providingprecisecontrolover theflowrateof theexpandinggas.This isessential for obtaining highly reproducible results. Flow ratescan range from 0.01 to 24ml/min (0.008 to 18 grams/min) ofliquidCO2undertypicaloperatingconditions.

Extractcollectionoptionsinclude:solidphaseextraction(SPE)cartridges, solvent filled vessels, fractional cyclone separators,andEPAsamplevials.Optionalco-solventadditionmodulesareavailablefortheSFT-110andSFT-110XW.Forgreaterversitilityandeaseofuse,samplebags,samplebasketsandflowmetersarerecommended.
