    INTRODUCTION

The emphasis on science teaching and promotion of

scientific knowledge has projected the need of laboratories for

practical work and experiments. Laboratories provide help in making

activity dominated teaching more successful. Through laboratory

work adequate interest is created in the subject of study concerned

and this is very useful for effective teaching.

In secondary schools where the subjects of physics,

chemistry and biology are taught, it is necessary to provide adequate

laboratory facilities. In addition to a big room where experiments are

performed, a lecture hall and a store room should also provide. The

size of these rooms should be determined according to the number

of work for each student. There should be proper arrangements for

ventilation and light .The arrangements of doors and windows and ofartificial light should be adequate so that students do not have any

difficulty in reading, writing and working. Learning of science involves

seeing, handling and manipulating real object and materials.

The importance of advanced science lab

    equipments in school labs

It is imperative for schools to have the latest and high

quality science lab supplies these days. Science is different from any

other subjects. In order to understand its concepts, one lies to look

beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective

teaching and learning of science involves seeing, handling and

manipulating real objects and materials. The knowledge that kinds

    4/13

attain in classroom would be ineffectual unless they actually observe

the process and understand the relationship between action and

    reaction.

Effective teaching and learning of science involves a

perpetual state of show and tell. Good school combine classroom

teaching with laboratory experiments to ensure that their students

grasp each and every concept thoroughly. It is also believed that

laboratory teaching and experiments that are being conducted these

help encourage deep understanding in children. Children are able to

retain the knowledge for longer when they see the experimentsbeing performed in front of their eyes.

Science lab equipment allows students to interact directly

with the data gathered. They get a first hand learning experience by

performing various experiments on their own. Students are made to

use the models and understand different scientific theories and

concepts. It is also found that school science lab equipment andsupplies make teaching and learning easy both for the teachers, as

well as for the students. There are several scientific theories and

concepts that are difficult to explain directly from the books.

Anatomy models, physics science kits and chemistry science kits for

instance make it easy to understand the otherwise complex theories

    of sciences.

By virtues of equipping themselves with the latest and the

advanced materials and supplies, schools are able to contribute a lot

in the scientific advances yet to come. The advance and

developments in the field of medical science and technology would

not take place if schools did not prepare brilliant and dedicated

scientists and researchers. Children develop interest in scientific

research in science labs. When they observe various things and carry

  • 8/11/2019 Shani mol.v

    5/13

out different experiments, their reasoning skills are honed and they

start thinking deeply on those theories and concepts. Schools thus

play a vital role in bringing up the next generation of engineers and

    concepts.

School must have the latest science lab supplies and

equipment to make science interesting and effective for students

and to encourage them to make significant contributions in the field

of physics, biology, chemistry and other streams of science later in

    life.

    IMPORTANCE OF LABORATORY

Engage students in open-ended investigative processes, using

scientific problem solving Provide application of information students have heard and

seen in lecture, there by reinforcing and clarifying scientific

    principles and concepts.

Involve multiple senses in three dimensional than two

dimensional learning experiences important for greater

retention of concepts and for accommodation of different

    learning styles.

Stimulate students to understand the nature of science

    including its unpredictability and complexity.

Provide opportunities to engage in collaborative work and to

    model scientific attitudes and behaviour.

Practical aspects of lessons and effective problem solving

activity in biology, improves skill acquisition of students thus

influencing high skill achievement levels of students. The study

was carried out because of need to enhance the teaching andlearning of biology in our secondary schools. It is found that all

students are interested in doing science experiments the school

has separate laboratory for science subject and they have

separate laboratory proceeds the school provide all the

necessary specimens for doing science experiments and there

    is enough requirements.

    SCIENCE

Science is not just taught but experienced practically in our

school which has facility of three laboratories career to

scientific curiosity of each and every child from standard five to

    standard ten.

    PHYSICS:

It is well lit with wide windows and has an arrangement of

tables with high tools. It is well equipped with all upgraded

instruments and devices required for all physics experiments.

The laboratory gives a firsthand experience of handling the

    electrical devices and other instruments

    EQUIPMENTS FOR A PHYSICS LABORATORY:
