SHAREABLE GOOGLE DOC TUTORIAL

How to get a Google Doc to be shareable with your students.

Madeline Davis, MSLIS

1. Open a Google Doc.

a. Open the Waffle Icon (upper right hand corner).

b. Select the Docs icon.

c. Select a Blank New Document.

2. Select the upper right hand corner Share Button (blue).

a. Name your documents. (Class block and assignment.)

3. A box will appear where you can add people directly, “Get [a] sharable link” or use the

Advanced options.

4. Select “Get shareable link.”

a. Change the settings by selecting the drop down menu next to “can view.”

5. Select the option: “Anyone at LCPS with the link can edit.”

a. This will allow your students to use the same document.

6. Copy link so that you can attach it or send it to others.

a. Then click Done.

To get this link to all your students.

1. Open Google Classroom. (classroom.google.com)

2. Select the + icon at the bottom right of the screen.

3. Select off the menu: Create announcement.

4. Use the link tool to attach the shareable document link to your announcement.

(Don’t forget to select your options for your classes and name your announcement!)

5. Paste your copied link (Ctrl-V) and select Add Link.

6. Then Post!

Now your students will be able to use the same document.
