Workshops & sessions are open to 4-H youth ages 8-19, 4-H volunteers and parents of 4-H youth. ONLY 4-H youth will be allowed on horses during workshops/sessions (After hours riding will be permitted for adults and volunteers who wish to ride). A parent/guardian or 4-H advisor of the youth must be present on the grounds in order for a 4-H youth to participate in workshops/sessions where they are riding or leading their horse. Concessions with both hot and cold foods will be open during the clinic. Each registrant will receive a ticket for one complimentary lunch (sandwich, chips, drink & dessert) from the concession stand. Other meals will be on your own. Camping = $25/weekend; includes electric and water hook-up

On the next page, please select your preferences for each time period (Workshop OR Session). Keep in mind that Workshops A, B, C and D cover multiple sessions. You cannot attend a workshop and a session at the same time. Workshops are for youth WITH a horse; parents may choose to attend and observe to watch and learn or may attend one of the sessions while a youth is in a workshop.

Workshop Descriptions

• You and Your Horse: On-horse training for youth who are looking to enhance their relationship and performance with their horse. Parents may also attend to observe and learn alongside the youth.

• Performance Against the Standard (PAS): This workshop will help youth and parents learn more about what a PAS judge is looking for when evaluating them for state fair qualification.

• Attire & Showmanship: Figuring out what attire to wear when can be challenging. This workshop will help youth and parents learn about attire and showmanship, including the differences between Western and English.

• Trail and Trail-in-Hand: This workshop will help youth understand the differences between trail and trail-in-hand and teach them some techniques to improve their and their horse’s performance in each class.
