What would encourage you to use the enclosed space under the main entrance (see space B listed below and shown on the map in appendix one)? If access to the campus was provided through doors directly into the refectory area, would you be more likely to use this space? 2. Would you be more inclined to use the existing exposed space (listed as C below and within Appendix 1) if a covered and enclosed bicycle storage area was built over the existing racks?

Sighthill: Bicycle Storage Review

Deadline for comment: Friday 12th June 2015.

Overview

The existing bicycle storage area between the [EN]GAGE and West facing entrances at Sighthill must be moved to a new location. The area, including the space currently housing the greenhouses will be built on over the next year to provide physical space for the activities proposed within the developing partnership between the University and the Scottish Rugby Union.

This paper pulls together all known and reasonable alternatives for the storage area, along with positives, negatives and general consideration/discussion for each site. All campus users, cyclists especially, are encouraged to comment on this paper by Friday 12th June to ensure that all options are fully considered and the opinions of staff and students using the space are consulted.

Questions

Please read the information in the sections contained within this document then answer the questions below (you can answer all questions, or any individual section only if you wish):

3. Rank your order of preference for the proposed new spaces for bicycle storage (1 to 3).

4. Between the three proposed spaces, are there any that you know you would not use? If not, why not (please provide as much information as possible).

5. Are there any other areas on the campus that you would like to propose for the development of a new bicycle storage area? If so, please provide an explanation of how the space, and the positioning of the space would be advantageous.

6. Are there any other facilities that you would like to see on campus to support current and prospective cyclists? Please not that we have been re-awarded funding to work with Edinburgh College and develop an off-road shared cyclist and pedestrian path between Bankhead Avenue and our Sighthill Campus. No date for completion but we hope the project will develop soon.
