We use international curricular as reference points from Singapore and Australia which are noted for rigor and focus on developing creative, independent thinkers. We offer internationally recognized and respected qualifications in the Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge A Levels and GAC certificates, not to mention iPSLE exam which students can take in Year 6. We also offer the full DOET Vietnamese curriculum for Vietnamese students up to Year 9. In particular, what makes our pathway uniquely advantageous to students is that we offer them a choice of programs when they reach their senior years of school. Students can take the GAC, a one year program specifically designed for EFL students. The GAC has a strong focus on academic English and soft skills such as organization and time management in order to prepare students effectively for university. Alternatively, students can choose to do A Levels-two year courses administered by Cambridge University as widely recognized as challenging, rigorous and providing deep knowledge of specific subject areas. Students can also take the one year AS Level courses in Year 11 followed by GAC in Year 12 – the option are numerous and flexible in order to provide each individual student the best possible pathway for the them. Academic Awards Policy The Academic Awards policy has been reviewed to provide clearer guidelines for students, parents and teachers. International Programme For the International Programme, the award is called Academic Champion Award and is awarded for the highest overall academic result for the school year in English, Maths and Science for each international class in Years 1 – 8. The overall result must be 85% or above. For the Integrated Programme, the award is called Academic Champion Award – English and is awarded to the highest overall academic result for the school year in English for each integrated class in Years 1 – 5 and English and EPP for each integrated class in Years 6 – 9. The overall result must be 85% or above.

Upcoming Events: Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on 27 and 28 October. During these nights parents will also receive their child’s progress report for the term. More information about Parent Teacher Interviews will be sent home to parents in due course.

Hwa Chong Institution will be visiting us for an immersion program and homestay between 12 – 19 November. We are currently looking for families that can host students. If you are interested in hosting a student from Hwa Chong please contact our administration office. With your support and communication we believe this year will be full of accomplishments and enjoyable days. Thank you in advance for your continued efforts to make SIS @ Gamuda Gardens a great school to learn, grow and achieve personal best! Regards Shane Blood Principal

Message from Head of Studies Years 1 – 9

Dear Parents and Students, As the inaugural Head of Studies (HOS) Years 1 – 9 at SIS@ Gamuda Gardens, I am excited to be part of the establishment of our new school and the newly introduced HOS position incorporating Years 1 – 9. Our new school year is well under way with students and teachers already immersed in active and productive learning. As the first SIS campus to combine Primary and High Schools on one site in Hanoi, we will have many opportunities to develop innovative teaching and learning experiences across our broad range of students. Fundamental to these opportunities are new Years 1-6 curriculum programs in English and Mathematics,. These new programs have been introduced to build upon the achievements of our former programs while aiming to create even higher standards in educational excellence in the teaching and learning taking place at SIS @ Gamuda Gardens. The “My Pals Are Here” Science curriculum will continue since it has proven to be a well-balanced and effective program. The new English Curriculum is called, “ACTIVE English.” It comes from the internationally famous publishers, Scholastic who, for over 90 years, have been developing curriculum standards around the world. “ACTIVE English” is based on an integrated approach to language and literacy development designed to make the learning of English both meaningful and enjoyable. The new Mathematics curriculum also comes from Scholastic and is called, “PRIME Mathematics.” It is a world-class program based on top-performing Singapore, Republic of Korea and Hong Kong approaches. “PRIME Mathematics” incorporates the widely-proven Singapore Ministry of Education standards and is a forward-thinking, innovative mathematics program. The ICT curriculum called, “SWITCHED ON” provides high-quality computing education that develops students’ understanding of the concepts and practices that underpin programming, creativity and collaborative work in information technology skills. The Music curriculum is called, “MUSIC PLAY.” It is an award winning music curriculum used throughout Canada and the USA and in many international schools and incorporates one of the most comprehensive listening components of any music curriculum in the world. With the new curricula, SIS@ Gamuda Gardens will deliver world-class, high quality education. Please feel free to email me if you need further information.

Regards Dr. Noel Geoghegan Head of Studies Years 1 – 9
