Republic of Slovenia is a country in Central and Southeastern Europe touching the Alps and bordering the Mediterranean. Slovenia borders Italy to the west, Croatia to the south and east, Hungary to the northeast, and Austria to the north, and also has a small portion of coastline along the Adriatic sea.

The capital and largest city is Ljubljana.

Slovenia offers tourists a wide variety of landscapes in a small space: Alpine in the northwest, Mediterranean in the southwest, Pannonian in the northeast and Dinaric in the southeast.

One percent of Slovenia’s territory is covered by vineyards, Slovenia is the third most forested country in Europe, there are some 10,000 kilometres of marked hiking trails laid out

across Slovenia, the Karst plateau in Slovenia has given its name to karst

water, the oldest grapevine in the world grows here in Slovenia’s second

biggest city, the benefits of Slovenian thermal waters were first discovered by

the Romans, Slovenia has more churches per capita than almost any other

country in Europe, in Slovenia you can be at the sea or a ski resort in a matter of

hours.

LJUBLJANA Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, but it is small and pretty, easy

to get around, and full of surprises. It is remarkable for its rich tradition, youthful vibrancy, cultural

creativity, feel for entertainment, and numerous green spaces. Ljubljana is a vibrant centre of creativity where cultural activity

has become a way of life. Each year it host more than 10,000 cultural events, from

prestigious music, theatre and art events to those pertaining to alternative and avant-garde culture.

BLED Slovenia has only one island but its uniqueness makes it more

attractive than many an archipelago. Sheltered by picturesque mountains, the island reigns in the

middle of an Alpine lake. Its charm has made it a symbol for centuries of a town to which

BOHINJ

Bohinj is a valley that stretches from Soteska to Ukanc. On the south side, it is enclosed by the Lower Bohinj Mountains,

which rise to 2.000 meters, and on the north by the Triglav mountain range with Mount Triglav, Slovenia`s highest mountain (2864 m).

BOVEC Between two gothic churches lies a square with typical Bovec

houses, friendly restaurants, shops, and hotels. Bovec is a town just by Triglav National Park and is the centre of

the Upper Soča valley. You can find some unique villages in the land of Bovec: Srpenica,

Žaga, Log Čezsoški, Čezsoča, Plužna, Log pod Mangrtom, Kal-Koritnica, Lepena, Soča and Trenta.

KRANJSKA GORA This town is most famous for its winter sports but is the heart of

the valley in summer too. Traditional mountain homelines and athletic dynamism are united

here. It offers many sport events and plenty of enetrainment for all who

enjoy sport, parties and fun. True romantics will find a peacful retreat, whilst more curious,

inquisitive minds will be overwhelmed by the variety of folklore.

MARIBOR-POHORJE Maribor is, as the capital of Štajerska, the second largest city in

the country. At the same time Maribor is pleasantly small and set in the

wonderful natural surroundings of Pohorje on the one side and wine growing hills on the other, with the river Drava wending its way through it.

POSTOJNSKA JAMA Postojna Cave is a 20,570 m long Karst cave system near Postojna,

Slovenia. It is the longest cave system in the country as well as one of its

top tourism sites. The Postojna Cave is complex of tunnels filled with stalactites,

galleries and halls, into which experienced guides have led more than 31 million visitors during the 185 years.

The Postojna Cave is the only cave in the world operating a cave train, so visitors can admire the immensity and the powerful allure of the underground world, where the geological past is revealed to visitors in its own way while riding a train.

PIRAN Piran is a very special, precious city. It is the best preserved cultural monument of Slovenian Istria and

the closest neighbour of Portorož, the luxurious city of flowers. When you visit Piran, you should take a closer look at its

architecture, influenced by the Venetian Republic, which left its mark on most Istrian towns.

Throughout time, Piran maintained the clustered medieval structure narrow winding streets, houses huddled

close together, rising in cascades, the contact with the sea, numerous squares and churches. Tartini Square is the gem found in the very centre of Piran.
